      Sysac:
      Hi all,

My son is in 1H. Received 2 letters from Form & MT teacher plus the time table.

Form teacher's letter says must put in school diary. I went to the bookshop yesterday & was told it's currently nt available so I placed a temp diary in the homework file with a note to all teachers that the diary is nt available & to use the temp diary in the meantime.

MT teacher's letter says to include the red file for the worksheets. It is also not available. It also says that the children are strongly encouraged to purchase the Chinese Weekly Magazine. Any of you know where to get this magazine?

One of the item to bring tomorrow is the social studies book. Do we need to pack the file as well? Then there's Art lesson tomorrow. I am letting him carry the Art bag with all the things in there. However, there's tubes of paint in there but no palette & brushes. Do I need to pack those in the bag r the school's going to provide? Anyone can advise?

      Thanks
Heee...heee..heeee...for art you need palette and brushes and most importantly apron.....believe me the apron is the most important thing :yikes:

      Hi

Today was first day for my P1 child. Quite surprised that it was a quiet affair for us parents as my other friends whose kids are in other parents are given talks and tours of school and allowed to observe the classes.

For us, we dun even get to see them during recess and no timetable or note from teacher given to me at all.

I feel totally cut off with no interaction and dun know what to expect for the next few days. Is it usually done this way?
      Hi Paulyn,

It is actually a good thing for the P1 child. It promotes independence. Remember they have a buddy system and your P1 child will be well taken care.

There will be timetable and also a note from the teacher introducing herself with her e-mail address and h/p number. You should get this by this week.

For my son I had this yeaterday. DLS is a very family oriented school....don't worry šŸ˜‰

      Hi all

Does anybody knows which is the best class in P3 for year2012?
      Thanks and Regards
      Ramya
      Hello,

Another parent told me that there will be 2 classes of HA (High Ability), amd the rest would be MA (Medium Ability)...I think they may also have a few classes of LA (Low Ability). Those that are in the low ability will probably have more extra classes for them to come up to speed....as end of the day everyone will take the same PSLE paper.....and do extremely well :imcool:

      Hi all,

I was at DLS this morning to settle admin, purchase books (some items are not available) & uniform. I must say it was indeed fuss-free. Now, wld just have to wait for Orientation Day. šŸ™‚
      Hi Sysac,

Yap, DLS is pretty organised and orderly and it will be the same for orientation. Kudos to the organisation committe :celebrate:

Does anyone know if school buses cater for 1 way ride (school to home)? Will the school bus run for the first day of school? And how would the kids know which school bus to go to after school dismissal esp first day?

      Thanks.
      Hi,

Yes school buses cater for 1 way ride. But you need to check with the particular school bus operator. School bus will run on the first day of school and there will be plenty of parent volunteers and staff and school leaders to guide the primary 1. Buses will be marked will alphabets and the teachers will help the primary 1 kids. Later he will have a buddy too that will help him....so no worries.

      Hihi,

I am thinking of sending my dd who is 4 this yr to dls..

Can any kind parents advise about pv at this sch cos I'm a non-catholic & stay within 2km from the school. Also does this school include daily prayer sessions & masses on special occasions such as cny, etc just like chij schools??

Btw my girl is currently at a church Kindy & I myself was from a ij school for 10years of my pri/sec sch life..

Sorry for all the questions & Thk u for all help given šŸ™‚
      Hi,

DLS does not need pv as they have enough help from the current students' parents. But then it may change, so better for you to call the school and enquire

Yes, they have daily prayers and masses, same as chij schools. šŸ˜‰

      Hi

What are the academic issues to take note of in De La Salle? My kid entering P1 next yr. He is gd in maths and is active but does not really like to read words. Worried that he will not be able to cope due to this.

Also, any good student care to recommend?
      Hi Paulyn,

Primary 1 is quite relax. The teachers will know what to do to motivate the children to read. I think having the basic skills of reading, doing maths and also speaking is enough. They will enjoy themselves meeting new friends, remembering prayers, making sure they carry all their books, etc šŸ˜‰
