nicnac:understand your point. cos have heard many of my boys classmates attend open house. and in fact there are also children attending open houses when they are p5 last yr as recommended by parents. there are also secondary sch coming to my boy sch to give talk on their sch. so tt why my opinion open house can be a easier topic esp also is the stage they are going thru soon in selecting a sec sch.ryka:Problem for my DD also, EL oral speech contest is not a common topic. I think most 12-years old seldom have interests to hear speeches if never involves in speech & drama or debates activities
Mine has never attended an open house. So the topic yesterday was not something that she can relate to.
Those open houses in April/May are usually held by the TOP schools. Unless the kids are all of the RI/HCI/RGS/DHS (mostly IP schools) callibre, the majority of the PSLE kids would not have attended an open house yet. The regular secondary schools typically hold their open houses in November, just before the release of the PSLE results or the weekend after it.
anyway the oral is over so let just hope for the best for the upcoming papers! haha
