Just curious, for pple who received CO for their 2nd choice sch, would you accept the offer or decline and aim for 1st choice via PSLE?

Decline CO from second choice.

Knowing that will be the decision, that's why didn't apply to any second choice schools, no point spending time and effort going for selection tests & interviews at second choice schools

I think next time I'll only get labbit junior to apply for at most 2 schs and both can be 1st choice (since one is a specialised school).

Avoid all the dilemma.
Agree. That is why DD only applied only one school. Unless you can accept the 2nd choice or the 3rd.
This is my personal opinion and what I have figured out after gone through couple of DSA applications with my children......

The chances of getting CO for GEPs are higher in RI over HCI as nearly 90% of GEP boys in our school got CO from RI as compare to slightly above 60% from HCI. In fact quite a number of boys were rejected by HCI.
I think HCI entrance test place a very important part.
We came to know that the top ms student in our school were rejected by RI through DSA but he managed to get in with 270+ PSLE score.
As I understand there is only ONE ms student who got CO from RI as he consistently top in all MO competitions but interestingly he was rejected by HCI.
Through all these years of observing the DSA selection process, I personally felt that ms student will not stand a good chance to get CO from RI as they give priority to GEP.
If your children are not GEP, why not try to apply DSA through sports as every year RI offered quite a number of DSA to students who are very good in certain
sports.

Thx for your info.care to share finally how many went toRI and how many went to HCI?

RI has 6 GEP classes, and HCI only has 2 classes. HCI gave only ~60% GEPs COs, so it can give more COs to MSers. Therefore, it is more difficlult to enter HCI than RI for GEPs, 😉
thanks. that means HCI gives about 180 places to GEP boys and finally only about 60 are filled. there are about 120 places for WL.

indeed. as long as they do their best… then go to a school suitable for their growth, they wiĺl enjoy secondary school…

that is why my son only DSAed for one school, his dream school. we didn’t compromise in school selection.at the mean time, he got one more chance besides psle.
I am in a dilemma now. DS got RI WL and HCI WL1. According to HCI, WL1 will still gain admission. DS wants to go RI while we prefer to secure a place in HCI. Headache![/quote

In top 15,

3 from Rosyth
4 from China

Such great Rosyth! Only China is larger that it.
