RE: Music Elective Programme (MEP)
Hi, Temasek JC offers DSA through MEP for JC students. One of the first few schools that offered the MEP. Good reputation too. They have 6-year, 4-year IP and 2-year JC programme.
Music @ A Levels is offered in NJC and SAJC. -

Visit TJC IP Open House on 12 May 2012, Saturday 10am to 3pm. They are starting their 6-year IP in 2013, and will still continue to take in 4-year IP students next year. P6 and Sec 2 students should attend!

RE: * Temasek JC (TJC)
Hi Jamie,
I think TJC is a very good college (definitely better than TPJC in my opinion, sorry 365psych)! The Science department owns two copyrights - THINKCycle (pedagogy for their IP), and also a card game called SynTactic which is used to teach organic Chemistry I think. I heard this card game is also used in Science classes in other JCs. Definitely a strong teaching team.
TJC is well-known for their caring culture and dedicated tutors. Their A level results has been consistently excellent - I remember they appeared on the frontpage of Straits Times last year, and one of the six top scorers in Singapore was from TJC.
I hope he gets into TJC! Good luck! -
RE: Music Elective Programme (MEP)
Hi everyone,
There is a difference between MEP and Music at βOβ and βAβ levels.
The MEP is taken from Sec 1 - 4.
The Music at βOβ level programme is taken from Sec 3 - 4.
There are many other secondary schools offering Music at βOβ level: Chung Cheng High Main, Anglican High, Catholic High etc.
If you are looking at IP schools, Temasek JC offers MEP in their 4-year IP programme which leads to MEP at βAβ Levels. They also offer TJC music scholarships to those who take the MEP. For JC applicants, there is DSA through MEP. They will begin their 6-year MEP programme from 2013.
National JC also offers a 6-year music programme which leads to Music at βAβ levels.
I think in most schools, a certificate is not everything. They may demand an audition, I heard. Or even a diagnostic test. -
RE: Temasek Junior College [*IP]
Hi everyone,
I live in the East and am looking at Temasek JCβs 6-year IP programme which will start in 2013. I understand that they have been offering the 4-year IP since 2005 and their students have done very well in the A-level examinations.
This year, one of their IP students was one of Singaporeβs top scorers; she was one of 5 or 6 students in the country to offer 13 AUs (Academic Units).
Does anyone have kids studying at Temasek JC and could they share their experiences please - culture, academic, CCAs etc.?
Thanks! -
RE: DSA Appeal 2011
Hi everyone,
I'm a new user
I know RI and HCI are really popular choices, but there are many other good schools around too, maybe just not too focussed on publicising their good work.
I live in the East. And if you're hunting for a good Chinese Orchestra for your daughter to join, I can suggest Dunman High (6-year IP) and Temasek JC (they are currently offering 4-year IP and will start their 6-year IP in 2013). Both schools have done consistently well in the SYF competitions.
If I remember correctly, TJC on their main page, did state that about 4 or 5 of their students were top winners in the National Arts Council's National Chinese Music Competition last year? That is quite remarkable!
Both DHS and TJC also offer the Music Elective Programme. So, I guess, they are good schools to develop your child's music potential.
Hope this helps
