Hi all,

I will like to know how people usually prevent moist on their piano.
I got a 2yrs old k3, recently i realised that the wooden hammers got some water stains. the piano heater has never been off and i cover the piano fully as per recommendation by the tuner. i'm wonder if there is any thing else i can do to prevent the deterioration. it's a little disappointing to see that a relatively new piano showing signs of water damage.

Where is your piano placed? It should be away from the windows (away from direct sunlight). It shouldn't be under any air vents too.

it is in the living room, away from the windows and no direct sunlight. but i have a open concept kitchen, so the tuner said that it could be the moisture from the kitchen (the water stains the side nearer to the kitchen). I'm thinking of moving it into a room but im not sure if i have enough turning space to turn the piano into the room. any other preventive measurement for the time being?

      Anyone have the same issue?
Did you make sure that the heater is still actually warm? Mine is also in my living room close to kitchen but it's fine. Last time my technician found that mine was not warm even though I switched it on. Turns out that there was some issue with the plug head. He changed it and everything is fine now. Just get them to tune/check your piano regularly and many issues can be rectified asap. If you need good technicians, I have been getting mine from http://www.singaporepianohub.com. They probably have 2 or 3 technicians but all are good for me so far. And very importantly, reasonable rates too.

      Hi Jaslim80,

Thanks. I have used them and have gotten a teacher. However, I have doubts that they actually check on the teachers' credentials.
Oh I see. My experience with them was good. They actually have a choice to let me verify the teacher's credentials on my first lesson and everything is still going on well now. I introduced http://www.singaporepianohub.com to other friends who are parents and they all told me it was a good recommendation.

      Hi,

I am looking for a piano teacher to come to my home in Bukit Panjang. My son is preparing for grade 5. Thanks.
I used http://www.singaporepianohub.com/piano-teacher sometime back. Good service from the person-in-charge and you can definitely find a teacher who suits you because they showed me profiles with every info I needed to choose. There's photo, rates, timings, qualifications, experiences etc.. I was quite impressed that's why I'm recommending. And it's free so no harm trying!

If you are looking for private guitar teachers to your home or to teacher's place, you can try out http://www.singaporeguitarhub.com

They have a database of teachers and they provide you with teachers profiles based on the preferences you fill in including preferred timings and stuff. Quite good.
