    • RE: CHIJ Family of Schools

hi, is there really a good chance for inter-transfer to TP or St Nick? what's the criteria? i wonder if it would disruptive to switch schools after 2 years....

in my heart, i really hope my girl can get into IJ TP. If not, what are your views on
      CHIJ Nativity and CHIJ OLGC?
      šŸ™‚

just enrol your daughter into your CHIJ alma mater, first.

      at end of P2 -
then, apply for transfer into both CHIJ Toa Payoh & St Nick.
      see which offer, comes first.
There are quite a number of girls got transfered into either IJ Toa Payoh / St Nick, from other IJ branch schools.
Inter-transfer, within the same CHIJ family schools is easier : due to similar IJ culture environment.

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

CHIJ Katong and St Anthony's too far from our place, don't wish to tire the girls out for 6 years!

thanks for the link to chij discussion page šŸ˜„

      Lexy:

CHIJ OLGC is safe for you. There is also CHIJ OLN along upper Serangoon.

Since you have time, add CHIJ Katong and St Anthony's Canossian (think can be a 2Cs backup)

HIPS is catholic school that is also nearer to your place but co-ed.

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Yangzheng is not in our list (co-ed and not mission sch)

i think OLGC is quite safe for 2Csup for <1km, thanks for the tip!
so if i get selected for PV for PLMGPS, our chances for that is better than CHIJ TP phase 2b >2km
wonder if it's worth that investment? or just place all bets on CHIJ TP

it's ok to be kiasu... isn't what this forum is all about šŸ˜‰

      Dear Gurus,

My advice to you is to try for a Catholic school in Phase 2B. It's OK to ballot.

Meanwhile, prepare a backup school for Phase 2C. Since you live in Serangoon, you can consider Yangzheng too. But you can still consider CHIJ or PLMGS too.

Prepare another backup school for Phase 2C Sup, just in case.

When I registered for my son last year, I had 3 schools in mind, even though I know that Phase 2B should be quite safe for us. I still planned for Phase 2C and Phase 2C Sup, just in case. Super kiasu, I know! šŸ˜„

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

      Dear Gurus,

Need advice for planning of DD's primary school, please help!

      Here's our background:
      - DD1 born 2013, so P1 registration in 2019. DD2 born 2014 (one year apart, i know! šŸ˜‰ )
      - Our home is in serangoon
      - hubby was from cat high, whereas i don't have any sch alumni
      - i'm catholic so eligible for Phase 2b for catholic schs.

      Factors/criteria for school:
      - school shouldn't be too far from our home
      - we want a catholic/christian all girls sch
      - preferably with affiliation to a good secondary sch

Schs shortlisted (by order of preference, not necessarily eligible šŸ˜“ )
      1) St Nicholas girls --> no hope cause >2km. sigh...
      2) CHIJ Toa Payoh --> looking at past year's stats, have to ballot for >2km under Phase 2B
      3) PLMGS --> no affiliation to church/no alumni. Asked sch about PV scheme, they replied that they are open to applicants >2km but said that they don't usually select parents who can only volunteer on weekends i.e. working parents. PV applications open in June 2017 for DD1
      4) CHIJ OLGC --> we stay within 1km. this is my fall back plan if all else fails.... past stats showed phase 2C <1 has good chance. but this school seems unpopular?

      Appreciate all advice/insights please! Thanks!
