      Hi Jasmine and hquek,

Thanks for both your sharing. I think I shall check with them to see if they have weekend vacancies. By the way, any idea if the Parkway branch is better or AMK branch?
I think they are the same because the teachers travel to different branches to teach..

      Hi Jasmine,

Thanks so much for sharing. For the strategies described, are you referring to their creative writing class? Notice that TAS has both regular English class and creative writing class. Do you mind to also share which one is your kids attending? With so many centers having such classes for kids, i really wonder how effective they are. Thanks.
      Hi Bluestar86,

I am referring to their regular class. My children have gone for their creative writing lessons before as a make up, they also use similar techniques. My kids are attending the regular class, my niece is attending their creative writing class as she is very strong in her comprehension so she goes to the creative writing class to focus more on writing. It depends on what your child needs. I feel the classes are effective if they have both good materials and good teachers. Materials can only go so far. What I like about TAS is from my experience with them so far, most of their teachers are dedicated and full of energy. They make the lessons interesting by having mini challenges, they also often go beyond the stated time, and when I arrive, I can often hear their teachers teaching and their lessons seem interesting and packed with learning. My kids share that they rarely feel tired after class although sometimes the classes stretch to 2.5 hours.

Hi! Can anyone share your feedback on TAS's teaching strategies? Do they make students memorise compo or rewrite the compo? Or they teach certain strategies to the students? For regular English lessons, how frequent are the student made to write compo? Thanks.

Their teaching strategies are they will go through the plot, for example, if you see this is the theme and this is the picture, what can you write about, questions to ask yourself: for this theme (eg: kind deed), is this story going to have good outcome or bad, for such a theme how do you stretch the story?

Then they go through the model essay, they will break it up and teach them the techniques used for example, personification. Then they also get them to memorise certain key parts of the compo. Then after that they will get the children to write out the compo. After the kids have been with them for a while, they will teach the kids to apply the given compos to other situations and topics and teach them how to apply what they have learnt.

They give very good compo notes. Besides the usual compos, they also will give summary of the compos learnt to help students to revise. When it comes to P5-6, the amount of compos given is a lot, even if they do not cover all in class, it helps as it is added revision for the kids.

For regular class, compo is done every week. Each week, they will do compo, may not write out whole compo but will write out parts of it.

My kids have been with them for quite a while. Been under different teachers and I would say all of them teach using the same techniques.

Any feedback on Childfirst@Mountbatten. I went down recently for a look and am very impression with their syllabus for teaching chinese and their speech and drama room and indoor playground. Would like to know how their teachers are like.

My older one used to be in there. She is adjusting very well to Primary school. I recommended my sister and some friends there. So far so good. Their chinese programme is very good. Their teachers are committed and will give you good feedback. Some are quite no nonsense but I feel they care about the kids. Will definitely recommend it šŸ˜„

Thank you:) Do you know anything about Hsieh Lao Shi? Can pm me thanks:)

Hi anyone can provide me with reviews on TAS?

Looking for a alternative enrichment centre to replace my child's current centre at MS. Don't see any improvement in my gal since 6mths ago. Teacher plays a part too.
Yes at every centre, it is always good to see if your child and the teacher teaching can gel and if your child can learn from that teacher. TAS has their own methods of teaching compo and compre. Good to go for a trial. So far TAS has worked for my children and we are pleased with them. But also good to find a teacher that fits your child cos every child is different.

Has anyone have any experience with Teacher Phoebe from TAS ? How is she ?

My friend's son was under her. Feedback is she is older than most of the other tas teachers. Her style is a bit different. She can teach clearly and my friend's son likes her. But for my friend's daughter who was under another teacher then transferred to her because of logistics issue, she preferred the other teacher as the teacher was more lively and engaging. My friend stuck with teacher Phoebe for the daughter in the end as her son improved a lot under her. However in the end her daughter insisted on going back to previous teacher. So I think it depends on what kind of style your child likes.

      Hi,

Could you comment on their creative writing teaching methods and how that had helped your kids to improve their writing?

Do you think a class of 12 students in TAS will be too big for Pri 5 ? Most classes that are still available with teacher 1,2,4 are already quite full with 11 students.
Will definitely try their trial class.
      Thanks.
My kids find it easy to apply what they learnt and their teaching for writing has a certain method, so it is not ad hoc like every teacher teach differently but they have a method to follow.

12 quite ok. Most kids can but I know of a friend whose child had ADHD, could not find any tuition class that can fit so need one on one. Really depend on child.

      Hi happyparent222,

My child went to his class a few times for make up. No complaints. He seems quite good but I cannot say for sure because it was only for a few lessons.
