sembgal:I have a p3 girl from PL. She was in the student care you are referring to from p1 to p2. The management and teachers were so bad at then that I had no choice but to withdraw my girl. Lucky for my, my in-laws live near to PL and took care of my girl. I thought things were better after withdrawing but I was wrong. There is no one to guide my girl with homework and revision and her results plunged. Sch teachers called to complain about her nt completing sch hw.Zizak:We withdrew at 410pm...key reason begin after school student care. There are 4 student care. One biggest opp sch..very near but pack with abt 100 student with 4 teachers. 3 others not so near so can imagine the poor kid with heavy bag walk during raining days. Out of the 3, 2 same locations and very small...visited there and felt impossible to let my kid be there after sch as in our own view the env not suitable..another one has 2 levels, place brighter but dont like the upper floor has somewhat look like pool table ( looks like to us) and has 2 small rooms with doors though doors are open. Just dont like the feeling if my kid is put upstair and moreover the toilets bet boy n girl just next each other at downstair. So if we insist to cont with PLMGS , we have to be prepared if no vacancy in the bigger student care or if our kid not happy there..then we must close eyes let kid go to the student cares tt we felt not ideal. Then also morning has to reach sch 720am...if driving has to leave early as the arterial roads to sch many traffic lights. If take sch bus.....poor kid will lack.of quality zzz. Didnt regret our decision at all. Unless u hve a trusted caretaker to guide your kid sch work after sch and pick her up fr sch...then this is a ideal choice sch......
Yes, I know which student care you are referring to, the one that has 2 levels and shower rooms/toilets of male and female very near to each other. That student care has pupils uttering vulgarities inside. My relative put the boy inside and the boy learnt how to swear. Anyway, the boy has grandparents to take care of him now. Big boy.
You make a wise choice.
I went to check out the others student care.
The biggest student care opp was really convenient because it was directly across PL. However, too pack because they nv utilise entire space. I only see 3 teachers to 90 students. I cannot accept this ratio. The students were yelling and teacher let them be. Some parent volunteers told me that they had abuse cases and police cases. Not sure if true, a girl was dragged to toilet and cane.
The other 2 student cares, one was not bad and got 2 levels. Principal seems kind and friendly and has good rapport with parents. Just that, it's very compartmentalise and abit mmm squeezy. Maybe too compact, so it was quite noisy also. The small one really not my choice because only 1 level. During my view, the students were cursing in hokkien. My husband gave an absolute NO after viewing.
I was quite desperate. Then I was told that the student care I withdrew my girl late last year had a change in management a few months after I left. I was doubtful about it despite my friends who had child at there were pleased with the new management (The other bright student care). I was shocked to hear that all the staffs were changed after new management stepped in. I have a boy in p1 also. Don't dare to risk 2 children and 2 cost at a go also. So I decided to sent my girl back to try before deciding if my boy should be sent there as well.
My girl had been back there for almost 5 months alr. Complaints from sch stopped almost right away. No issues with homework. The student care did revision with them and return materials every June and December. Quite surprise to see their materials so organised and the student care got their personal learning material. But of course result wise, has to depend on outside tuition alr.
White house of learning is the old management, really cannot make it. Many kids use vulgarities at then. Brain Booster is quite particular about good manners. They brief students often about good manners. They take action immediately if vulgarities was heard. I witness before one of the in-charge there lecturing the student. It was strict, direct. Better to teach and start from young. My girl say they do not even allow the word \"stupid\"
As for the shower, boys and girls shower are not side by side. I am quite sure about this. Girls shower at 2nd level and boys shower at 1st level. There is only 1 shower and 1 toilet at level 1. The boy's shower is beside the common toilet which is not meant for shower. So i think not an issue here.
The 2nd level pool table was from the old management and was there since Brain Booster took over I think. My girl said it was there when she was p1. The principal there never let them play. I only know that the new management will be doing revamp for 2nd level around year end. I think pool table will be gone by then. I won't say that it is the best. But at least i see effort and good change in my girl attitude. I already registered my P1 boy with them and will start next yr. Really stressful to guide them with school work after a tiring day at work. In-law can't really help them too because they can't speak english well and pamper them with TV all time.
Hope that helps.
