mashy:I wonder how you got so much insider information about who is a PR and who is not. Speculating stuff and making it out as a fact here ... not very credible lah ... especially so since simple fact of who the P is also wrong!
Are PRs locals? Gosh, u don't even know what is PR. PR means permanent residents. It means not Singapore citizens. Phase 1-phase 2c are open to citizens and PRs. Before u go blasting, please know your facts.
I didn't say it is mainly foreigners in the school, just that I noticed that there is a high no of foreigners in the neighbourhood. When u have more foreigners in the neighborhood, likely they will apply for the nearest sch.

Current teck ghee principal was Anderson vice principal. VP do admin work only. As for why teck ghee suddenly so popular, my guess is becoz one of their teachers won an award. Only one teacher. Doesn't mean it will benefit your kid coz may not be teaching him/her. I stay just opposite teck ghee. A lot of pr and new citizens here.
Your info is very inaccurate. The current P is fm monfort and vp from Anderson. I see both all over the school ... Definitely beyond admin! The school close registration at phase 2c .. So should have mostly locals. I think we should share info responsibly and only if we are very sure that it is accurate. -

Gin:
Hi Gin ... you should see the Vice Principal in the school ... you will know how approachable the school is after seeing him! ... Just call the school and make an appointment ... he is very accommodating and will share his vision for his pupils ...Hi,
My neighbour is looking at Teck Ghee to register her child (next year).
She is not really worried about the teaching as I am able to tutor her child (I am an experienced tutor with over 20 years of experience.). Her main concerns are:
a) are the teachers approachable?
b) are the children in general quite well behaved?
Any parents with children in Teck Ghee who can help her out on the above?
Thank you!
Gin
P.S. Are there any Eurasian kids in the school?

I have my child in Teck Ghee Primary School. I do not know what the official ranking is based on. From what I know, the PSLE results in Teck Ghee Primary is above national average for almost all subjects. Dont't think this is case in Anderson ... don't kow about Jing Shan ... need to call and ask. You might also want to speak to someone in Teck Ghee ... the P and VP are very approachable.based on this website, should be jingshan primary.

The only thing about Teck Ghee is that there will be a lot of homework ..

Parents be careful ... let's not put too much pressure on our kids ... RI is not for all but the elite. As parents, we should ensure that our kids get the best possible shot at PSLE ... and we should help them to prepare well.xxjustakidxx:
What I meant was I was trying so hard to get into RI, and that day, I received such a score. I was 0.something off from RI.
hope you are happy at whichever school u managed to get in- RI or otherwise. More importantly i hope u realise its not the end of the world when one does not get into the desired course/ school. Obviously you are a bright student with much ahead of you!
;D
My girl will be doing PSLE this year ... I understand from teachers that the school will go full steam ahead with numerous practice papers in Semester 2 ... meantime my girl has been sourcing for learning opportunities beyond the classroom ... there are numerous websites out there that we have found useful in giving the added exposure ...
http://www.oldschool.com.sg/
http://p6.learninghub.sg
http://www.misskoh.com/
Bottom line is that our kids need added exposure to PSLE type questions which can be found in abundance at these websites! ... -
RE: Tutor MathsGuru: Ask me for your burning Maths questions!
To all P6 pupils ... I came across a new website with online Math links and worksheets ...

RE: time management for PSLE

Hi
Are you sure ? At every briefing by the school, the principal emphasized that every subject has equal weightage : 75 / 300 for the T-score.verykiasu2010:
One important reminder to all parents: The 2 languages carry more weight than Math and Science. Make sure your child is spending proportionate time on the 2 lanuuages.
Where is the evidence to say that the 2 languages carry more weight ? And what weight ? 80/300 ? 85/300 ? I want to know.
Thanks!
I attended the PSLE Talk by my son's school last month. The principal also mentioned every subject has equal weightage.
Rgds
I had a discussion with the VP of my son's school on this. The weightage given to each subject should be the same ... there is no indication even to the schools about differing weightage. More importantly, the T-score is computed based on the mean ... so we must advise our children that if the paper is easy, they should not be too happy ... but must ensure that they check thoroughly so as to ensure no careless mistakes. If it is too difficult, don't give up ...
By the way, came across a website with online worksheet ... http://p6.learninghub.sg .... hopefully they will upload more worksheets for online practise as we move closer to the THE DAY! -

Hi Dawn .. my child is in Teck ghee .. agree with you that the teachers are responsive. Don't think the results have slackened going by the banner that is found on the school website.[Moderator's note: Topics merged.]
Just compiled the comments of various parents.. if got any mistakes, please excuse me... and if have anything to add, very welcome to. Am sourcing for schools for my 2 kids too.
