Hi xueyan, like hquek said…there are several things you have to consider for resale flat. A resale flat in a good location is going to cost so much more and you don’t have that many options ie level, unit etc. You’ll have to do the math and see if the profit after returning the $45k plus interest back, is worth it. There’s a possibility that you will still have to take out a property loan, but a much smaller one. In addition right now, the local banks like DBS, POSB, OCBC etc have very low SIBOR.

RE: Which Money Changer/Bank?
Normally I would say money changer, and there’s only a few that give good rates but as the amount you’re changing is not a lot, it won’t make that much of a difference whether at money changer or bank. If money changer, I recommend Mustafa. If bank, you can deposits and change the currency at DBS, POSB or OCBC.

RE: Places to go as a family
I suggest the 'durian' aka the esplanade. It's got a/c. There's always something happening there, in addition to the plays, shows etc you can catch with the family. After that there are plenty of makan options. :imcool:

RE: Nagging
I’ve seen what nagging can do to a relationship. My buddy’s wife was a constant nagger and it almost destroyed their marriage.

RE: Which is your preferred Kids Savings Account?
I checked the DBS website, their latest deposit rates is at 0.0500%. I think most banks’ rates are more or less the same.

RE: SRS
I don’t think fresh grads would be earning >$80k pa even with bonuses, that income bracket is more for professionals who have been working for >4 years. And I agree that SRC is more suited for people who are much older and close to retiring. For younger people, they have lesser financial committments (i.e. raising a family, mortage, etc.) so they have more liquidity and can take higher risks to get better returns. For investment in singapore, banks like POSB offer a wide variety of unit trust options, with different risk levels and assets class. So I think for younger professionals, SRC is not a viable option.
