titank:Maybe need to wait for top PSLE scorer from Gan Eng Seng, Blangah Rise,Cantonment Pri to surface out in order to move up the profile in BM Pri Sch cluster
Last 2 yrs gesps top scorer was 270+3(yr 2016) & 272+3(yr 2015)
Alexandra Pri would continue to attract more applications base on the profiles of P & VP.But guess thier term of service usually 5 yrs to 7 yrs would need to change.

RE: 2017 Sec 1 (For those born in 2004)

Last yr the few brands featured were Asus,Dell,Lenovo & Mac.The brochures we received stated a substantial pricing saving as compared to retail & i remember there is a 3-yr warranty( that's what i kn abt Asus). There were free gifts -accessories like headset, DVD writer, portable harddisk, optical mouse.
yes, there is a road show for SP students from 16/3 to 21/3. engineering students have to get a windows laptop with 8gb at least. macbook not suitable. just want to check with you, are the prices at the SP road show more affordable compared to retail? SIL told me the prices available for laptops at RP are not attractive, so she went to get from harvey norman.JJ_chua:
Janet,
I remember there will be a roadshow for SP students to purchase laptops at a good deal in their campus & there will be relevant softwares loaded (by course ) inhouse. We bought one laptop last yr.If i am not wrong, students would be informed (or did ur DS receive any registration package fm SP?).According to my DS, he told me info regdg purchase of laptops/notebooks will be updated after 10Mar.We intend to purchase one this yr too.
Btw as far as we understood last yr Macbook is not suitable for Engrg course (or at least for his course)..Many students bought Asus brand (very popular during the roadshow).
You may wish to call up SP to find out more..
My nephew (also fm SP, 3rd yr) told his cousin ( my DS la) that sch roadshow prices are more competitive than outside..
Hope our info is accurate enough.. -

Hi Janet, my DS is in Aerospace Electronics.According to him all yr1 engrg students study most common subjects. There are a few books which i bought for his ref in SP bookshop.JJ_chua:
Congrats to Janet & your DS.My DS also in SP Engineering ( had just finished his exams last Fri).I am sure your DS will enjoy his 3 years in SP.Cheers :rahrah:
hi JJ chua,
may i know which area of engineering your son is in?
mine will be doing EEE and being the kiasu mum, if your boy is doing EEE then i can enquire if there is any reference titles i can get him to read up first. from now to april, it's about 1 month plus to go. thanks.
Principles of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (publisher:Pearson)
Digital Electronics (Pearson)
As for Engrg Maths, its actually something similar to A Maths. If your DS has not studied A maths in upp Sec, he will be allocated to a class to study basic A Maths in the 1st semester of the yr.
There will be structured programming whereby they study C++ programming. I bought a 2nd hand book from Bras Basah complex (C++ Programming -by D.S.Malik).
Hope the info helps. -
