    • RE: [Bedok/Katong/Marine Parade/Siglap] Preschools

Dear all, I would like to thank all who have taken the time to visit our center. Firstly, I would like to clarify why Laoshi and I (Judy) are floating. If I were to take a class, I can’t work with all the children. My take is this, we will co-teach with the teachers for language and Mathematics. This is to ensure that the teachers understand my lesson plan and the reason for our method of teaching. I will show by example on how to conduct the lessons. Our language and Mathematics programme are written and thought through by us who have studied the primary syallabus. We do not buy a wholesale programme as we feel that only part of it is relevant to your system. Hence, we tailor it to suit our Primary School education. This programme is also review regularly.

My principle will be doing more adminstrative work. She will not be teaching in the classroom. Having said that, She has many years of experience. Her knowledge and wisdom are assets to the school. She is able to brainstorm ideas to create play corners and activities with us. She does have a very good heart. We want staff who truly love the kids. That’s very important to us. When you truly love the kids, you will take ownership for the children that come to you. You want to make sure that you prepare them to fight a good battle out there. Be it academically or socially. Laoshi and I are the extra number in the school. If the teacher is absent, both of us are there to stand in. Once again, thank you so much for trusting me and giving constructive feedback about the school. I hope to be able to have the honour to work with your precious ones.

      Dear Helpless mum

Your son is only 2.5 years old. It is not too late to start speaking to him and connecting with him. Don’t feel guilty look forward and just spend time and enjoy your boy. What is your concern that you need early intervention. Don’t diagnose your child to early. Give him sometime.

    • RE: PROBLEM WITH TEACHING MY GAL HOW TO READ

Phonics is very important. I agree with the other parent that reading daily to your child is important. It is also good bonding time. If she is in K1 and not reading. You should really put her in phonics class. Small class will be better to expediate her learning. If she she can’t do it you must than speak to the teachers to rule out any learning disabilities. Not too frightened you but early intervention is the key if needed.

    • RE: Preschool Curriculum

Dear all, I do agree that the Franchaise programme have a set curriculum. It gives the teacher a guide. Every child is different, their progress and their learning style too. Sometimes this is too rigid such that the teachers just used it anyway even if the class is not benefitting from it. What if the class is a lot more advance than the work that is prepare for their age. Are you going to bore them and follow or do you have creative teachers to come up with lessons to stimulate the children
