I will like to share with everyone feedback on the Sengkang Sports Hall Branch. This is the email that was send to the management.
The cluster principal had came up with the suggestion to do a crush course on phonics with the N2 class for the entire month of December. Do you guys think that this is appropriate since the children are only 4 year old. How much can they really absorb. Overall, since this email, the principal had being trying to avoid the parents. During the year end graduation (1st wk of December), the center principal was not even willing to mingle with the parents prior to start of the event and we had not seen her physically in the school since. Wondering is it guilty or don’t know how to face the parents.

It had been an extremely DISASTROUS year for the N2. There was no permanent English teacher for the N2 class for the past 11 months.

Here is the timeline of not having a proper English teacher till 1st November:

Mid Jan: Teacher Sha came after transferring from other center
1st wk Mar: Sudden resignation of Teacher Sha
Mid Apr: Teacher Falisha join the school as N2 English teacher
Aug – Sep: Teacher Falisha on ad hoc medical leave
Oct: Teacher Falisha on medical leave
1st wk Nov: Teacher Nadia join the school as N2 English teacher

While we understand that it is not the school principal fault for teacher resigning and/or on medication leave but the leader of the school – Mrs. Diana Ezra did not bother to communicate the absence of teacher for prolong period of time neither did she provide parents with any updates the entire year. Parents had to find out what was going on with the N2 classes among ourselves and asking our children.

It’s very secretive about what was going on in the school. Teachers were also instructed not to reveal any information to the parents.

Curriculum were not defined. With no permanent English teacher, parents simply had no idea what had our child learnt in the past 11 months. What they had covered for phonics and mathematics.
Are they on tracked based on the MOE frameworks and guidelines. There was simply no transparency from the school.

Early this year, we were asked to purchase a set of English story books for the N2. However, to date, our children had only bought home 3 books that were read when Teacher Falisha was the teacher during the period of Apr to Sep. What about the rest of the books?
How much of the N2 lessons plan were being compromised with the absence of the English teacher?

Also, Mrs. Diana Ezra is simply not proactive. She lacks leadership and management skills. She don’t communicate with the parents during school events and get her teachers to manage the parents instead. With all these going on, we will also like to question the credibility of SPARKS that were being accredited to the school and also the role of the cluster Principal.

Last but not least, with the nonsense happening in the school, we will like to give our sincere appreciation, thanks and kudos to all Teachers, Aunty Yati and Aunty Toh who went beyond their scope of work to ensure the school function normally with the shortage of teachers and weak leadership from Mrs. Diana Ezra.

Special mention to Xiao Lao Shi who had to hold the fort solely and manages parents’ expectation and also the sole care giver for the N2 class for the past 11 months. Also a big thank you to Yu Lao Shi who was often seem helping out at the N2 class as well as to Ms Sitti and Ms Dawn who had to stand-in as English teacher for the N2 class on top of their heavy workload and teaching their existing K1 and K2 classes respectively.

We hope the management of Star Learner will value our feedback and conduct the necessary investigation on Mrs. Diana Ezra. We also hope to seek a better communication system between the school and us.

Looking forward to a more rewarding and fruitful 2018 with the school.
