GEP Selection test has ended. How many Canberra pupils passed the Round 1 (Screening Test) to go for today’s test ?

Hi, my DD1 is having her test at Mayflower Primary School. Is it the only school for selection tests these 2 days ?

For P3 Banding classes in Canberra, do the classes named in alphabetically order (P3A, P3B ...etc) or in numerical sequence (P3.1, P3.2....etc) ? My FIL is asking my girl to target going into \"3rd class\". :scratchhead: :roll:

For my experience last year, it was based on Term 1-4 English and Math results. Both must be in Band 1 (>86%). For Chinese, It was banded separately. Example, 3A or 3B pupils may have their Chinese in 3C class and vice versa.

I did check with the form teacher on why my son has to go to last few class as I feel that his result was rather good. Since A and B class he is unable to go in, at least he should be able to go in C class but why even C class he can't even get in? Her reply was there will not be any difference in C or F Class. But... there will be an impact on my child. My MIL has been 'criticising' my son - Saying he is lousy that's why he has go to last few class. My son's friend too 'laughed' at him. Imagine the hurt he has... the efforts that he put in, is like gone down to the drain....

I am sorry to hear that your son is hurt. One of my kid's classmate told me that she will go to \"worst class\" next year (3F). I feel sorry to hear that. The school should explain to the kids that there is no difference between class 3C-3F.

As mentioned by the principal during P2 Banding Briefing in the beginning of the year, the banding in this year is only taking into Maths and English. Mother Tongue doesn’t count.


So far, I have noticed so. My girl’s classmate with Level position at 65 gets into 3C class as she did badly in her English (get Band 2) even her Maths is in Band 1 and Chinese Language is in Band 1. Whereby, my friend’s son with Level position of 77 gets into 3B next year as his English and Maths are both in Band 1 although his Chinese is in Band 2.

I am new here. I will register EPS as 1st choice for my daughter (P1 in 2013). I will complete the PV by end of Feb’12.
While I was volunteering, one parent complained about EPS. Her words make me worry about the school. After reading this forum, it tamed my mind.

Since your kids are in EPS. Hope you don’t mind to reply if the complain is true:
1) Young/in-experience teachers
2) Turn-over rate of teacher is high
3) Focus will be on those students who failed the exam and neglect those who are weak (not failed yet)
4) Parents need to out-source the enrichment class for weak kids
