That's a tricky question. From MOE's website, it says:

MOE recognises that some families are unable to remain at the address used for registration for the entire duration of the child's primary school studies. Even so, a child who gains priority admission through their distance category is required to reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the start of the P1 Registration Exercise. For reference, the 2021 P1 Registration Exercise started on 30 June 2021.

If the 30-month stay condition is not met, MOE reserves the right to transfer the child to another school with vacancies, as the priority admission to the first school was based on the declared address used for registration.\"

For you, your address should be fixed by 30 June 2022, no choice. I assume that since that is your father-in-law's place, it should be alright to use the address for your NRIC, as long as your child is staying there from the start of school. Is it possible for you to negotiate the release of your flat by end of May by your tenant?

Btw, i have another question about addresses. Because the tenancy agreement has been signed for another year and we will have to negotiate with tenant to see if we can compensate them to leave earlier, this means we won't be able to get back the house only towards end of the year. Holy Innocents Phase 2A1 has never required balloting, but last year in Phase 2A2, it did require balloting for >2km Singaporeans. It is because of a large number of Phase 1 registrations - 129, the largest since 2008.
The worrying trend is the growth in people coming in for Phase 2A1, from 0 in 2014, to 46 in 2021.
The number of applicants in Phase 2A2 has also been growing steadily from 48 in 2016 to 66 in 2021.

As Phase 2A is going to lose 20 places this year, the trend is saying that Holy Innocents will require balloting in Phase 2A this year. But it depends very much on whether the Phase 1 take up rate continues to be more than 100. But since you are staying so close to the school, and balloting has been for those staying >2km, you might be able to escape the ballot.

Also, since your oldest is getting into the school, perhaps you can register your youngest in Holy Innocents in Phase 1 even, thus bypassing the registration. If I'm you, I'll go to whereever our forum member phttp advises ASAP!

Just download Holy Innocent primary school's Transfer Application form from the school website, fill it up and submit for processing. Only when vacancies arise, admin staff will process all the Application forms received,
contact certain parents, provided their child has been short listed by the Transfer-in-primary-school-staff-panel-in-charge.

Of course, inside your Transfer Application form, u can tell them that you will be registering your younger child soon under Phase 2A. However, whether this has any impact or not, to help your older son / daughter transfer into Holy Innocent primary successfully or not, we won't know.

When the school process all applicants' Transfer forms, school will look into each and every applicant's strength and contributions carefully, to decide who to short-list. Yes, there will be competition, from other candidates as well, during the Transfer process.

For your younger child,
Phase 2A should be fine.


Btw,
since you mentioned that one of u, either u or your spouse was an ex P6 graduate from Holy Innocent primary school before years ago, hence allowing u to have the privilege to be able to apply your child under Phase 2A, this means that

you ought to be very familiar with your own school (alma mater) happenings / events. Thus, you should be able to find out answers internally more pro-actively, because Holy Innocent primary after all, is your own alma mater.

WOw! Thanks so much for the detail explanation. My husband doesn't keep in touch with what happens in the school to be frank. We only started looking at this school cos of the plan to move in with my fil. And we are quite particular about putting both girls in the same school and minimize changing schools. In other words we do not want Mei mei to be in holy innocent and jie jie in CHIJ (the next likely school she can get transfer to). Arm with these info you guys have so generously shared, we may try CHIJ instead. Its a pity cos holy innocent is really just across the street from us but oh well. Hi I am looking to shift to my father in law place end year as he is getting old. So we are looking to transfer my eldest to holy innocent which is literally a stone throw away from his flat. My youngest is currently in k2 and will be applying for P1 in July. My husband is an old boy from Holy innocent so I am hoping to get my youngest in via Phase 2A. May i know:

1. What are the chances for my youngest to get in via phase 2a for holy innocent?
2. currently, the flat is tenanted out but we will probably not renew and start renovation some time mid year or earlier. In this case, how should i go about applying transfer for my oldest as our address will only be reflected when we move in later this year? I am abit confused what I should do. Should i contact the school directly and be placed on waitlist?
3. Is there more chance for my oldest to get a successful transfer if my youngest gets in via Phase 2A? I really dread the thought of putting them in different schools but I read that Holy innocent is really popular and I deduce from there that transfer may be hard.

Hi anyone has experience with steam cleaner? I have vinyl plank flooring and I read online that its a big no no to use steam cleaner on such flooring. I tried my sil steam cleaner to test test on the flooring and I find that it is not very wet and because its steam it dries really fast. But I am worried about the long term use. Anyone able to share their experience?
