U should report the agent to MOM as they are supposed to let potential employer know all important info especially if she has a police record. Based on this, if they don’t give u a refund, u can report to CASE. And I will if I were you.

Let her finish her loan with you, then send her straight home not to agency. This type of maid with such bad attitude should be made to restart her whatever months’ loan all over again. They all think as long as I don’t like my work, my employer, just transfer lor. They should be taught a hard lesson so that they don’t play a fool next time.

      Hi moonee

In HK, there is no such thing as transfer. If u dont like the maid, u can send them home n re-employ another. I heard their loan is also shorter like 3 mths.

Correction: I dont think Taiwan offer off days, just higher salary. But their loan is also longer - 1 year.

    • RE: MOM - no maid levy & no transfer pls?(Same in Taiwan/HK)

Fair enough. But I think once in the entire contract would better prevent them from exploiting the rule. You can’t keep having some many old people that you take care dying on you rite? And for reason of abusive employers, there must be proof or anyone or agency can claim that so that the new employer will not suspect it’s due to the FDW’s bad attitude.

I had this transfer FDW that I took. The agency concealed the real reason of her transfer and recommended her to me. When she came, she told me at her previous employer, she already made up her mind to transfer after being there for a month as she didn’t like the 4yr old boy she was minding. She even told me she was not doing her best and was rude to her employer when talking with her and was waiting for her employer to finally transfer her.

Her duty is mainly to some light housework and to send the boy to half day school and wait for him to dismiss and meanwhile she can roam around in the mall, cos the mum is personally taking care of a new born at home and it is not practical to lug the little one along to school everyday, thus she has to hire the "vase" to send the boy. Even with such light chores, our "vase" is still not happy n wants to transfer.

She has a bad attitude and if you tell her off when she did wrong, she would say she wants to transfer. She can tell me someone told her she can transfer up to 4 times. I wonder who is that someone? - the agency or MOM?

Cos as far as I know, during their so called safety training at MOM, the trainer also stressed that they can transfer employers if they don’t like the job. So probably that that gave them the idea that they can choose employers. Unlike in the past, the agencies will counsel them to try but now their reply would be : change lor.

Of course change lah, if not how the agencies make more money off the transfer - from the maid, from the existing employer and from the new employer. MOM should put a stop to this!!! It’s so sickening.

The maids have so called human rights group and MOM to protect them but employers? I think we are worse than the maids, they are humans and have rights but we are not and thus have no rights even to vent our dissatisfaction without being labelled as a bad employer.

Don’t know why people think maids are so helpless. They can spoil your stuff deliberately and don’t have to pay because MOM says so. They can steal your things and don’t have to be punished unless you want to make it a police case. Maybe 20 years ago, ya, I agree they are all pretty innocent in their thinking but Heelllloooooo, not anymore pls.

I think those people who generalize all maids as angels and all employers as devils are damn unfair and perhaps dont even have a maid. If there are good maids, surely there are good employers. If there are bad employers, surely there are also bad maids. How can one say all employers are tyrants and all maids are lambs? Anyone who says this : I hope one day you will have a taste of your own medicine(get a maid from hell). Then we will see if you still thinks they are all angels.

I personally think zero levy in Singapore like Taiwan and HK is impossible because it means a loss of revenue to our Government.

But No Transfer is a very good idea cos agents then do not have a conflict of interest to purposely supply us with the wrong maids so that those maids can be transferred again and again and these agents can make $$ off them and off us and off the new employers. Look at how many times they make for transferring the maids but incurring the cost of bringing in the maids just once.

      Hi Kokomommy,

I agree with you that We employers must set up a group or representatives to talk to MOM about all these. Anyone seriously keen in these?

I you set up, I will surely join.

The reason we are being "bullied" by these so called maid activists/human rights group, maid agencies, maids and even MOM is not on our side is We employers are not united enough. Our voices are scattered. As such, nobody hear us and we suffer in silence.

Government says weekly day rest is mandatory but never say must be weekends rite? I have an idea for employers who needs to give maids off days. If you are not working, give them off days on weekdays n on different days too. That way they cant gather together and compare and turn bad since they have different off days.
