Anybody knows of packed halal lunch with delivery to eastern spore for about 15 pax for 2 days? Pse pm me. Tks

Most caterers in Singapore are Halal I think. You can try Four Seasons, I think they are.
Their food is pretty good but the last time I used them was a while back.

Does anyone have a preference between specialty chocolates from overseas versus the mass market ones (eg. Swiss Chocolates versus Royce)?

    • RE: What is your dinner?

I’m not the best cook. My husband is better at it than I am. Many of my female Asian friends feel bad if they’re not domesticated, especially if they can’t cook great meals. Does anyone face this?

    • RE: All About Full-Time Maids

My friend just hired a Filipino maid. I must say compared to the other household help I’ve met, she’s sounds quite educated and more responsible. What I like is her command of English. But I heard that it’s because she’s older too. Does anyone have any experience on help of different nationalities?

    • RE: Child attending church

I can see this thread has not really been active for a while, but this topic interests me. My kids started attending church last year - it was an interesting thing for me to observe. I noticed a lot of talk on the internet when it comes to churches tend to be negative especially because of the whole recent events, but my experience has been quite different. At first, yes, they were being their typical teenager selves and wanted to spend more time with their friends. But I began to notice a positive change in them. They made the effort to spend time with the family and even started sharing about the things they learned. Anyone share the same experience?

    • RE: Which Secondary school to choose in the East

Just another quick thought before I retire for the night, with my kids I sometimes think I have it all figured out when I talk to them but actually when I sit them down and actually listen and find out more before lashing out, almost all of the times, I discover a different perspective that I did not consider.

But if I did not sit them down but instead just imposed my judgment and view on them, I would have missed out on understanding their perspective and ultimately missed out on improving my relationship with them. And I’ve learned that that’s actually the more important thing.

      cheers.

Hi ngjim2 - I went to do my own research on this church. It seems that they are not as bad as what you share? I saw this link that was on a blog. It seems to be written by someone who attends (or used to attend - because the last post was in July) the church.

      http://myhogcsermonnotes.blogspot.sg/2015/07/heart-of-god-church-academic-excellence.html

the video talks about how a secondary school student who was spending all his time gaming and had a bad relationship with his father changed because of how the church helped him. Maybe you have had a bad experience but i don't think it may be the full picture? I think that sometimes it helps to hear both sides of the story and give a more balanced view? Maybe the person that you heard things from has skewed your perspective of things?

    • RE: City Harvest's founder Kong Hee & 4 others arrested/charged

well, I’m not a Christian but I think if I made a donation to a charity, I don’t tell them where to use it. I think the charity will best know where to use the money – as long as the money is used for the charity’s purpose / mission I am ok. Just an opinion.

    • RE: Detained S'pore teen planned to kill President, PM Lee

I’ve been tracking this news. It is inevitable that ISIS would reach Asia… it was just a matter of time. Trying to exercise controls on the internet is not as simple and while I agree that it must be done it is not the answer. The more you restrain a child, the more they will be interested. It has to do with educating them and at the same time we need to surround them with a positive influence.
