What do you all recommend for students who need more help with lower sec History?

Yes, there's homework for almost all the subjects if not all. Usually no projects. The sch may add more hw if your child does badly in the year-end examinations. Your child might need to return back to school for supplementary classes or CCA too.joydecoy\" post_id=\"1966100\" time=\"1583594405\" user_id=\"161259:

If the system of teaching is still the same as what I remember (ie teaching only one science per term), then yes, the teachers give out new notes as they progress from topic to topic. About 2-3 topics per science, so 2-3 notes each. In general the notes are usually sufficient.
My gal is in S1 now and i notice that the sci notes are very minimum and I dont thk its sufficient to
prepare for exam. Is that the norm or will they gif out more notes later? -

No, all students who enter RV have to sit for Higher Chinese O'levels when they reach Sec 4.
Hi all,
For those parents whose kids are in RVH, if my child wants to drop Higher Chinese, is this an option accepted in the IP track? -

Asking a noob question here. What is the allowable footwear for the students in RV? TIA
For junior high students, it's white shoes with white socks, no fancy coloured shoelaces. Shoes can be coloured but majority must be white. The rules are more relaxed for senior high students, I think black/dark blue shoes are allowed? The rule changed quite recently so I'm not quite sure about that. -

Saw some forum comments that he memos and notices from RV is in Chinese. Some nontaxable subjects like Arts or PE may be conducted in Chinese also. Is that true?
Depends on the teachers themselves, I guess? I never had a PE lesson conducted in Chinese but did have some in Art lessons. Some teachers do mix in some Chinese phrases and words in their lessons (in math, science, etc.), but it's not that big of a deal. For the most part, lessons are usually conducted in English. -

TBH i'm not very sure of this as well. Speaking from personal experience (Rv student here!), I was in a weaker HCL class in year 1 and even then, my peers in that class all had taken HCL except for one DSA girl, and they had mostly scored around merit for PSLE. As a SAP school that takes a lot of pride in having strong roots in chinese culture, it would be kind of weird if the school didn't have any requirements for HCL in primary school, especially since the year 1 need a b4 to pass chinese too. I don't think anything is announced officially, but it could be an underlying factor in choosing students, you know?
Don't quite get this.joydecoy:
hey, it's actually because they separate the weaker HCL students from the stronger ones, and the weaker ones are all in one class so they can be taught at a better pace. (on another note i think only HCL students can enter the sch unless they're dsa students)
My understanding is that those who meet the COP of the school will be able to get in via Sec 1 posting, irregardless of whether the child takes HCL at PSLE or not.
