      Steam golden pomfret
      Tau kwa with minced meat
      Stir fry cai xin
      Onion omelette

      Edit to add: fishball soup

      icy_mama,
Are your Tau Kwa and Fishballs from wet market or supermarket?
Which brands of Tau Kwa & fishballs are good in supermarket?

Hi, flying down to Amsterdam in June, to support my child participating in competition.

I might have 1 day (or 1.5 days) to sight-see while she does her pre-comp training, rest of time is mostly stuck at the spectator stand when her event proper begins 😞

Any recommendation what are the must sees? And where I can book city tours etc?

Ideally, you should visit the windmills of Zaanse Schans but the 1 day (or 1.5 days) limit would leave you with very little time to explore the city. Given the limited time, you may want to consider the following within the city only:
      1. https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en
      2. http://www.vangoghmuseum.nl/en
      3. http://www.annefrank.org
      4. Amsterdam Canal Boat Tour
It's probably going to be tough to complete 4 in a day though. Even if you can't visit all of them, fret not. Just take a walk along the canals and enjoy the beautiful city.

You could also consider purchasing the http://www.iamsterdam.com/ and work out your itinerary from there. The pass gives you free admission to a number of museums (including Van Gogh Museum, and a number of smaller, charming ones), unlimited rides on the public transport and a free canal cruise. The 24hrs pass should be sufficient for your short trip.

Some old articles (and incomplete account πŸ˜‰ ) of my trip in 2013 on http://obliquetravel.com/category/destination/netherlands/.

thanks Floppy! we are looking at staying in apartment in Dirkshorn, North Holland. I see the day trips in Amsterdam all meet at centraal station, if we drive down from Dirkshorn, do you know if there will be any parking problems?

Any flights that's not a direct option should be cheaper than the direct flights (just don't complain about transit airport or transit time involved πŸ˜‰ )

Other than the obvious middle eastern carriers, you can also consider KUL-AMS on MH, and find on your own way from SIN to KUL (factor in 2 hrs transit from plenty of airline options).[/quote]Thanks floppy!

My DS1 will be in JC1. On the day after posting release, do parents need to go the the posted JC with the child? What will we need to do? Is it similar to Sec 1 registration - Principal's talk, buy uniform & books?
