We give big angpows to parents plus CNY hamper.

My ILs still give us angpow. I don't know why. And we've this strict tradition of exchanging oranges with dh's aunties one by one, from the most senior to the youngest. I was chided for getting the order of seniority wrong in the first few years because they all look alike!

Same as MKS, I must hold 4 oranges, take a bow and utter some CNY proverbs. In return, my dh's aunties will give me angpows, so I receive a lot of money every CNY!

Then I hv to serve them kopi or teh one by one...maciam 24孝媳妇！

However, dh is not required to give me angpow. Just angpow money to pow other people's angpows. :moneyflies:

My father will give angpow to his daughters-in-law, but not married daughters ( already considered us as outsiders :slapshead: ).

I requested one angpow from my hubby since 3 years ago, after realising that my sil is getting one from her hubby. She told me I need to insist getting one from my hubby as it will bring luck.

Just last week, there was a sharing in the newspaper on the amount of $$ recommended for wife...

Yes, UOB offers Golden Risis Monkey for fresh fund $108K, min 3mths holding period . The interest rate is not attractive if u go for it now... 1.5% pa till feb, after which was told the interest rate will drop. I did my math... not so good.
