If letter says eligible for ESIS and you are applying to an independent secondary school, then confirm get.

If the letter states eligibility for ESIS, ie meet the cut off of 261, does it means that you definitely get it or still depends on the secondary school tscore ranking?

      Thank you ski!

Don't know how true - this year around 12-13 pupils in the 4 HA classes passed Round 2. Anyone else heard otherwise?

Only know of 1 out of the 4 HA classes, has 6 who cleared. 12-13 sounds unusually low to me.

It used to be that all the kids who passed the screening (first) round would automatically be in the META classes. Has that changed?

I don't think so. It's the 2-5% identified by MOE at the 2nd Round. So pass 1st round (top 10%) but not in top 5% will not be in META. And there's a cap of 70 students in META.

And also must meet the COP for HCL. ๐Ÿ˜“
come to think of it, this means the school knows the 'marks' of the screening results in order to identify the top 5%?

      BigDevil:
Except for the GEP students, my son's P3 class was distributed into 3 classes: 11 in MS, 7 & 12 in 2 META classes.

So there will be plenty of familiar faces in the same class.

In any case, children tend to make friends fast. Don't worry about it. ๐Ÿ˜„

BigDevil, Do you know which are the GEP/META classes for 2017 P4?

      BigDevil:
No, META class remains at 2.

However, instead of 60 students in previous years,
there will be 70 META students for 2017.

      Thanks BigDevil! :thankyou:
