Who said SL is arrogant in the other thread? Do you know her personally? Or you only judge her by attending her rallies huh?
I always thought that PAP is the number one ya ya papaya? The ungracious behavior of PAP supporters in victory is telling.
PAP ran Singapore for 50years, did they make mistakes? WP ran AHPETC for 4years only and people are heavily influenced by the MSM to focus on the lapses.
WP members, go home to spend more time with your family, don't take up the posts of NCMP. Not worth the effort and heartache. Route of an opposition is not easy. I salute you :salute:

As in breakdowns that disrupt your journey by 15 minutes or more, every couple of days? Or generally slow running of the trains? How often had you faced a breakdown that caused you a 30 minute+ delay?
Quite regularly, I must say. Maybe once, every couple of days.Justice_justin:

How many, Justin, over 5 years, that you've had a significant delay on the MRT, and over how many trips (estimate)
A sincere question to throw light on the issue.
During the peak hours, the trains tend to stop longer at stations as the earlier train at the next station are held up. And nowadays, each time it rains, the train slows down considerably which is something that did not occur in the past.
I will admit I don't use the NSEW line much anymore , so maybe things are worse there now. But CCL has been good to me.[/quote]These are usually delays (which are very common) rather than breakdowns. To me, breakdowns are when the MRT train stops moving, be it in the station or along the tracks, for at least 10 minutes. Breakdowns are less frequent and often go unreported.
That said, some of the delays could be significant. On a recent rainy morning, an usual 30-minute trip took 50 minutes as the train went slow \"due to slippery tracks\" and also waited longer at the station. -

I have the good fortune to personally experience a few MRT breakdowns. Not a fun experience to watch the crowds growing bigger by the minute on the platform and no one appeared to know what was happening. The station staff appeared ill-prepared and did not know where to direct the crowds while the crowds kept on streaming in.
Along the newer lines like NEL, it was still not so bad as the platforms are generally very spacious. But on the older NSEW lines, the danger of overcrowding is very real as the platforms are generally smaller and it is almost like a mob growing more agitated with each ticking second.
I have become very paranoid about the MRT to the extent that each time the train slows down halfway in its journey, I am ready to alight at the next stop and quickly exit the station. I know the bus routes better now to better prepare myself for the next MRT breakdown, not if it breaks down but when it next breaks down.

Perhaps the people who are affected the most by MRT breakdowns are all busy working and do not have time to surf KSP forum? Just a thought.
Come now, given the furore around MRT breakdowns and delays in THIS forum, SURELY there had to have been some people HERE who were severely and frequently affected by them?

See, I told you earlier, the Internet Bridgade is still using their same old tactics to divert, distract and disrupt constructive discussions. It's regrettable that like the sheeps in Animal Farm, the amount of bickering here distracted us from the more useful and constructive posts in this thread.
I wonder if we're Kiasuparents or kiasuteenagers in real life.
Has the Internet Bridgade won? Good luck too all affected parents and may this thread rest in peace. :imanangel: -

Very complex analysis and calculations, indeed, so complex that since knowing about the issue in 2013 until now still can't do it. Yet, it can't be too complex as the IP JC places have been confidently filled starting in 2013.Obviously you people have no idea what is meant by soil condition
And the complex engineering calculations required
If the jc was build immediately as announced they probably have to tear it down to rebuild with the transport infrastructure unless they scrap the Thomson East Coast line totally
I guess no matter what explanation at whatever point in time people will still kpkb like why have to demolish and rebuild why never take into account mrt requirement better to delay than rebuilt bla bla bla
Whichever way it turns out to be : as long as their kids are inconvenienced they demand some heads to roll or crucify in order to appease them to mollify them to be \"accountable\"

No matter how you perceive the different style of comments made here, the contribution of the participants have undeniably uncovered, discovered and clarified quite a lot of information and some of which can and will be used as 'bullets' when the so-called 'affected' parents go meet and deal with their Yoda or Darth Vader at MOE. I think some affected parents should have benefited from the balanced discussion here and have more points to consider to make a more informed decision and conclusion about the situation and what options are open to them. They may also have learnt others' viewpoints, concerns and wants.
Thank you for your viewpoints and concerns. If nothing else, the affected parents have built up their emotional resiliency after enduring all the sniping and snide comments in this forum.
So having said that, my view is that the so-called affected here are not representative of all affected and also they have no right to asked the 'unaffected' to shut up. Furthermore this is an open forum, so everyone and anyone can comment on any view (except those that disturb social and racial harmony)... not just the views that the 'affected' wants to hear.

RE: Govt to offer Singapore Savings Bonds for local investors
A tiered rate, the longer you hold these bonds, the higher the interest payout. More competition for the deposits and perhaps, FD rates will start to inch up.
