The condition of the toilets is really bad. Really hope the school will do something soon.

It is useless to educate the girls to keep the toilets clean when the flush cannot even work!

Maybe the child did not have enough time to use the toilet bowl due to some situations, etc. Poor girl. We thought the maintenance of the toilets are much improved after the renovation this year. But my gal told me her friends couldn't flush .....and the toilets are still unbearable

We were near the main school gate and saw the girls walking on the road between the big school buses to board them. Especially those big buses near to the main school gate. A few of them got a shock when the bus suddenly moved a bit. This I thought is very hazardous. Those girls using the bridge to cross to the other side of their buses can walk safely on the pavement at least. There are many buses to send the girls home but it seems dangerous when We did not see any adults helping them to check blind spots on the road in this situation. So parents, please remind girls to be careful if they do not have a choice to use pavement all the way to board their buses.

      very dangerous !

P1 girls are short. Driver inside long school bus cannot see them crossing behind the school bus (blind spot)

Parents, pls tell your kids, never cross behind school bus, because driver can't see
But the fact is they definitely have to walk between or behind the buses to board them. 3 teachers in charge are only on duty at the pick up point. It is a concern when the big bus nearly hit 2 or 3 of the girls.

Looks like I am not the only one complaining about the toilets.

I was told the toilets are now renovated but I heard that they are still not sufficiently maintained to a decent level. Previously I had a shock of my life to step into the schools' toilets. I asked my gal and she told me that's why she doesn't dare to drink too much water. The condition isn't as decent as public coffee shops šŸ˜ž

Also, the girls said some of the staircases are pretty dark around 4pm on their cca days. There are still some renovation work carried out in the school if I am not wrong. Some male workers are walking around.

Yes, you are right : bad toilet condition.

Once, my daughter went to the toilet, was shocked to see a puddle of smelly, messy \"pooh-pooh\", on the floor of the toilet cubicle. Whoever did that onto the floor (not inside the toilet bowl), so disgusting
Maybe the child did not have enough time to use the toilet bowl due to some situations, etc. Poor girl. • RE: GEP Preparatory Program

      mamona:
Is there anyone whose kid's got into GEP now-a-days without any special preparation class? As I heard kids from those preparation classes are getting mostly in the GEP. Is it true?

      Regards
Some parents have the time and resources to expose their kids at home to prepare for gep. Other parents prefer to put their kids in gep preparation classes and let them blossom on their own or etc. From my own observation, I realized many kids who constantly do very well in Eng and Math at schools and also attended short/long duration preparation classes were not selected for Gep. Some were shocked they did not even pass round one. Some of my friends' children did not attend any of these preparation classes but they were admitted into gep. Their kids are curious learners and always keep themselves busy with their interest though.

My DS is back home and hasn't got anything. Just wanted to recheck, does everyone get an envelope (white/brown) or only those children get it who get selected?

      Curiosity really killing me !!
Those who are selected for GEP will get a yellow envelope (on government service). Those who did not get into the programme will just receive a piece of A4 white letter only.

      What's your concern ?

Even if kids don't enter GEP, in Mainstream, even in the (P4 to P6) Multi-talented classes, they still band the kids, according to subject ability.

In Mainstream, if you want yr kid to join MO (Maths Olympaid) or SO (Science Olympaid), still got chance.
Doesn't mean that they only pick GEP kids, shut off the door totally to Mainstream kids, inside Multi-talented classes. The Maths & Science Hod are aware of this
P3 kids are not streamed currently. You mean they will band the P4 kids onwards? Pardon me if I am wrong because the teacher told us they will no longer stream till P6. Some of us are just thinking it is better to group them in a class and nurture them daily instead. Even in mainstream, the very good ones also have to check if they can stay back to attend such school enrichment classes due to cca, etc.

      Just thinking aloud...

For those neighbourhood pr schs which traditionally only produce a handful of 245 scorers, the P still can gather the better scorers together in 1 class of 30 to stretch them, no? P doesn't really need to define \"HA\" the same way as those top \"elite\" schools like NYPS. Just group their own top students together is good enough. It's all relative. Surely it's not difficult to pluck out top 30 of each cohort in a neighbourhood sch?
My Child's school believes in holistic education so no comparison....just do your personal best....

      Smile Smile:
Good students if good in all, are punished to bear the slow teaching pace in normal school hours in class and have to stay back after schools more times for the enrichment classes. Much challenging questions and excise can be issued during normal class curriculum if the top classes are steamed out so that appropriate faster pace of teaching can be applied. Poor kids who have to spend more hours in school.

However for some branded schools, year after year, they churned up great numbers of kids that pass round 1 screening tests and skewed good percentage of students students that do well very well in psle compared to many neigbourhood schools, maybe really the multi talented classes really don't make a difference because most are generally good. Nevertheless, still think having a couple of top classes is still better because the kids can be stretched more effectively and happily.

But in many neigbourgood schools where there can have much disparity among the students ability, maybe Better opt for gep when selected as time is really not well spent in such schools if they use similar multi talent class scheme
Truly agree! If it is very common to have higher ability classes in neighbourhood schools based on P2 results in P3, why did my popular school abolish higher ability classes and make it holistic to band everyone together in multi ability classes all the way up to end of P6 ......I am sure there will be a greater gap in learning once the children are in P5 due to the increase in academical challenges so I feel this move is not nurturing these significant number of children.
