    • RE: Edvox Music School - Discussion

Hmm, I don't know about the Guitar teachers, but I'm personally a student at Edvox Music School and I've been instructed by several teachers for different occasions and I have to say that I've had pretty good chemistry with all of them, and they've inspired me a lot - which is really really important because I've come to love music a lot more and I'm also more willing to practice because I don't want to let any one of them down šŸ™‚

      Hi BananaMilk,

When you mentioned about the shorter queue, are you referring to the queue in school during the Reporting Day or the shop at Bibi&Baba?

      Thanks for sharing.
The queues in school during Reporting Day is pretty crazy, but the vendor from Bibi&Baba comes down to RGS on the 1st Friday of every month, but there shouldn't be that much of a queue at Far East Shopping Centre's Bibi & Baba even if you go on reporting day.

      What does CmPS stands for?

CmPS is Community Problem Solving, a RS project offered in Year 2. It's a competition under Future Problem Solving and its mainly about identifying challenges in the community and taking actions over the course of the year, such as raising awareness, visiting old folks home or underprivileged children (given that the project is related) etc. Then it'll be presented at the actual competition at end year. šŸ˜„

Her name is in the TD list.

I wonder what is the selection criteria to get into this TD list.

Strangely for the Y2, class 212 has 21 pupils, Class 213 has 18 pupils, Y1 112, class has 21 pupils and 113 class has 20 pupils in this TD class.

I am just wondering it seems that class 12 and 13 are gals who are good in maths.

There was an iNet announcement put up a long long time ago saying that you can apply for Advanced or Enriched Math class by taking a test, given that your overall Math GPA for the year is 4.0.
I'm a Year 2 student, and 209 and 210 actually mix around for math classes, those who are in the TD list (advanced & enriched) and a selected bunch of normal students who have slightly higher math grades (I think that's how they do it) will be put into one class, and the rest into the other. Same applies for 211, 212 and 213. I'm not sure how it's done in Year 1 though, it never happened for us.
For students in the TD list, they will receive special resources and have some time in class from time to time set aside for them to have special discussion while the rest of the girls do their own work.

From the CCA info from the link given by Dodo,

\"All Merit CCAs have no quota; they can take in as many students as they can.\"

\"Every Core CCA in RGS has a quota (maximum number) with regard to the number of students it can accept per cohort. All students have to undergo selection trials to qualify and be accepted into a Core CCA.\"

If you notice from this year CCA intake quota document, all the CCAs are in the list, everyone has quota, even Uniform group. All also need audition/trial of course with the exception of the special 3. So conclusion is all the of them are Core CCAs? :?
Alright so I'm not really sure on this so please correct me if I'm wrong. I believe AVPA isn't a Core CCA as well so yeah. There are certain CCAs that cannot be taken as a Core CCA in Year 1 such as debate, it is still a merit CCA, however in Year 2 you can opt to change it to your core CCA and drop your original core CCA. For debate you might have to go through selection tests to show that you're good enough to participate in competitions and stuff but I'm not sure about other CCAs.

There are also CCAs which you can take as both a core as a merit, let's say for example Robotics maybe. If you can selected through the trials then you can take it as a core CCA, but let's say you didn't, then you should be able to apply for it to be your merit CCA, and then change it to your core CCA in Year 2. However CCAs like library can never be changed to a core CCA from Year 2 onwards and it will remain a merit CCA throughout.

I'm not sure about every single individual CCA but if you guys have enquiries about a specific CCA I can try to ask my batchmates in that CCA so yeah šŸ˜„

Hi, I'm trying to decide which CCA trials i should go for. I'd like to know my chance of getting into:

      - Handbells Ensemble
Learnt how to play handbells in music class in primary school, and i'm grade 7 in piano
      - Track and Field
Not in school team and never participated in inter-school competitions before, though i was selected to participate in sports day (600m and 100m)
      - Robotics
      No prior experience
      - Gymnastics (Trampoline)
Used to do gymnastics and participated in several competitions before, but quit in P3
You should just try for all of them if time allows. Most handbells people have no prior experience, and robotics do not require any prior experience too... .-. As for track and gym you can just go ahead and try since you have some experience in it haha.

If we are wearing Pe shirt+pinafore, must we change into blouse during recess?

Yes you have to change into your blouse during recess, if not you'll get booked. You're only allowed to wear your PE Shirt if you're wearing culottes. šŸ˜†

Hello! šŸ™‚ after going to the CCA Orientation, I found that many CCAs interested me, but can any seniors recommend how many CCAs to try out for? What's the norm? Thanks! šŸ™‚

There isn't really a \"norm\", most people just try out as many as their schedules can fit, but do try out for those that you're interested in. I have had seniors who tried out for like 10+, even those that she had no intentions of joining, which I found a waste of time haha. Personally it's up to you, I tried for about 5, but there's no harm trying more if you have the time.

Hi everyone, today when going to school, I was filled with a sense of pride and a had a stomach of nerves. But after going into the school, receiving a warm rafflesian welcome with cheers and games, i was much relieved! The school was nice, although some talks were long and my legs were numb, I enjoyed the atmosphere. The PSLs for my class were really friendly and helpful, and I felt blended in. We learnt the school song and cheers-- really wonderful šŸ™‚ but really, I enjoyed today.

      However, I have some queries,
      - CCA orientation is about...?
      - the orientation booklet states that we are supposed to wear culottes and pe tshirt on badge initation but aren't we supposed to wear full school uniform?

      TIA,
      Potato
In CCA orientation there will be booths set up by respective CCAs (with lots of effort and love put in haha) and you can find out more information of each respective CCA such as their training days, duration, what they do, what qualities they are looking for and such! You can also try out some of the CCA activities, and get lots of stickers! šŸ˜„
