DS said his answer is KE to SE + (elastic) PE...his reasoning is all GPE would have been converted to KE when it hit the floor, which is then converted to (elastic) PE since it’s a rubber ball...He couldn’t recall other options with KE to PE + whatever
Yes, one option was potential to kinetic and another option was potential to kinetic to sound.
Normally it should be with sound energy but since Q18 requires conversion FROM THE MOMENT THE BALL HITS THE GROUND, it should NOT have sound energy because the ball is bouncing back up. -
RE: School of Science and Technology
Received SST invitation email at around 11:50ish am too, must have been sent in bulk, with a link to acknowledge acceptance by 24th July.
DS went for the 26th June afternoon written test, no clue if that is a factor he is allocated in the 27th July camp batch. -

After reading your above post, out of curiosity, I asked DS again to see if it jog his memory.
Wow thanks ! My son said his was on which is more similar to the cat based on the graph? n he chose platypus is more similar to the cat.
He recall a flow chart:
Give birth to young alive, if NO - Platypus, if YES - Retractable claws
Retractable claws, if NO - Bear, if YES - does it purr
Purring, if NO - Lion, if YES - House cat
He then remembers part A qns asking which is similar to cat and his answer is Lion
The qns on stating 2 differences is part B, he said. He couldn't remember if there are more parts to that qns.
Note: 26-June afternoon session. Not sure if the chart (info) and/or qns were the same. -

Hi,
Hi any child attempted the question on the cat, bear, lion and platypus? Any idea what’s the answer base on the graph?
My DS said that qns asked to state 2 differences between Lion and Platypus.
He said his answers are: (1) Lion has retractable claws (based on the characteristic flow chart) while platypus does not (2) Lion give birth to its young alive while platypus lay eggs.
Note: I'm not saying the above is the correct answer or questions for that matter. DS is prone to misreading info & qns, and careless mistakes.
Additional note: DS went for the 26-June afternoon session selection test, not sure if the qns were the same for all session -

I asked DS whether he remembered any square pattern question.
For Maths :sembgal:
My dd told me each question is awarded 1 mark each for the difficult GEP Math screening test which comprises MCQ and problem sums. The marks awarded is indicated in the answer sheet that your child is required to fill in.
My kid said one of the questions test on application
Of \"square\" concept, in pattern series.
MOE P3 Maths syllabus did not teach square concept yet. They only teach multiplication
DS draws out :-
Pattern 1 = 1 square
Pattern 2 = 4 square (1 above the original square, plus 1 each on left & right of the original square)
Pattern 3 = 7 square
DS said there were 2 questions on this pattern
[1] \"n\"th pattern (DS can't remember which pattern they asked for) = how many squares?
[2] which pattern has 31 squares? (DS said he noticed the +3 squares for the next pattern which makes it a (10X3)+1)
The only qns DS remembered clearly was a qns on equivalent fraction because he spent a \"very long time\" staring at it before he figured out that he had to simplify it before X5 to get the answer.
Qns: 4/10 = 10/Heart...Heart = ? -
RE: Exemption from Mother Tongue

Thank you for the info.
a child psychologist's report from NUH or even a professional OT in private practice would carry more weight when applying for MT exemption or extra time. before daughter was assigned to see the speech therapist, i was recommended to go private which will be faster...but it would be expensive. i think we went to NUH CDU, speech therapy and some centre to do IQ tests for several months...the most torturous wait was the 3 months after submitting the language report and child psychologist's report to SEAB.
I guess I should abandon the thought of going to private OT and make a beeline for NUH CDU instead, not to mention that it will be cheaper as well. Here I was thinking that MOE EP's report is good enough for the MTL Branch since they belong to the same Ministry of Education.
That being said, DS's ASD diagnosis is mostly due to his \"quirky\", disruptive behaviour and social issues. Academically, apart from difficulties in Chinese and illegible handwriting, DS did okay in English, Maths & Science for now. -
RE: Exemption from Mother Tongue
hi Kei,
has the MOE educational psychologist referred him to any child development clinic in NUH?
Under the \"Referral to External Agencies\" section it is recommended that DS be referred to an OT for possible sensory integration difficulties.
The report does not specifically state NUH CDU, but during parent consultation the EP did suggest going to private OT which will be faster. Had checked with NUH CDU and they require DS to be assessed by their consultants before they can assign an OT, and the appointment queue for assessments alone is a couple months long. -
RE: Exemption from Mother Tongue
Hi All,
Had browsed through the pages in this thread but did not see any similar question [re-application after unsuccessful attempt(s)], so here goes:-
Case:-
DS, currently in P3, has an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis made by MoE Educational Psychologist in P2. MoE Psycho-Educational Report dated Dec’2015.
My recent application for MT exemption is however unsuccessful. No reason is given for the rejection.
His MT teacher & HOD expressed surprise over the result of the application as the MT exemption is among the list of recommendations in the MoE EP’s report. DS’s P1 and P2 Chinese overall mark is below 20%, P3 Chinese SA1 is 13%.
Anyway, my question is: Given that the Psycho-educational report is valid for 3 yrs prior to the date of application, anyone had any idea as to whether I can use the same MoE EP report to re-apply next year? -

According to my P3 DD the entire P3 students will be performing in the pre-concert Ukelele segment.Hi P3 parents,
Is it the whole P3 will be performing Ukulele for the School Daze event?
Is it compulsory? Already buy the tickets? Urgent! Thank you.
Not sure whether it's compulsory or not. My DD is in the school ballet and will be performing in scene 3 in addition to the Ukelele segment, and I was given an \"allow/do not allow\" form to sign (together with the schedule of rehearsals), by her ballet teacher.
I have purchased the tickets since DD is categorise under \"Performers\".
Hope this helps
