    • RE: Pei Chun Public

      p0o9i8:
Hi, I am an ex student of RGPS and my DD is now 3, as our home is at boon keng, and Pei Chun in the 2km radius. I afraid the commute for her for RGPS would be far. hence I am considering to apply PCPS

There are a couple of pri schools I am considering, but am unsure if I will waste the 2A chance of getting her in RGPS. She is 3 now, isit early to consider PV to ensure her ballot chances?
PC's PV needs to be registered with the school at least 2.5 years in advance. I made the mistake of asking around 2+ yrs as I only came back then and was told that I'm already too late...
PC's got more competitive this year compared to previous years as 30 space had been cut. Nevertheless, if you go in at Phase 2B under PV, you should still be able to make it with a comfortable margin (based on this year's results).
You still have time to sign up for PV.
Since you have 2A chance for RGPS and yet distance may be an issue, you can perhaps try:
      1. Sign up for PV @ PC since you still have time to register
      2. During P1 registration, go for 2A@RGPS first
      3. See the balloting results for PC and if comfortable as expected, go for 2B@PC
      4. See the results and if you got PC and prefer PC due to distance, than retract 2A@RGPS. (Not sure if you may have to retract this earlier during 3 above when doing 2B though, you have to ask PC during 2B. If so, you can see the statistics for PC and decide whether to retract earlier then or not.)

Saw that our replies crossed in another thread too... 😄

Are there any mummies here who are sending or planning to send their DD to RGPS and staying in the boon keng, kallang, potong pasir area? There are a couple of pri schools I am considering, but am unsure if I will waste the 2A chance of getting her in RGPS. Marymount convent in Toa Payoh is nearer, but would be tough to get in without any PV I suppose?
Marymount convent is usually pretty easy to get in if you live within 1 or 2km. I recalled this year it has vacancies left even until very late phases.
However, RGPS is probably a better school in general?
Nevertheless, it depends on your DD's aptitude as well, i suppose...

Hello my daughter got in P1 next year, looking forward to joining the school and many thanks to the parents who posted on the orientation and data admin details.

Is there anyone taking the school bus from the east? Just wondering what time the pick up will be?
      :congrats:

Fully agreed! That's what happened to me...

no questions asked...you will just do anything for the child.
until now, i still remember washing 6 cartons of sweet potatoes with 2 other mums for total defence day during PV. our fingers were wrinkled after that, but we chatted happily and worked together to wash, air dry and pack the sweet potatoes.[/quote]Good for you!
I tried to do PV and was told by the school that coming in to register 2 years in advance is \"too late\" and I need to register 2.5 years in advance...
Problem was, I only got back to SG then and the reason for relocating back to SG: our child's education...

    • RE: All About Aircon (New, Maintenance, related components)

Mitsubishi Electric is more expensive but all the people I know who knows aircons will recommend it because their core technology/production is the best/most reliable.

Note that in some countries, there is Mitsubishi aircon besides Mitsubishi Electric aircons: they are different subsidiary companies under the M group and Mitsubishi aircon is not that good. So be sure to choose Mitsubishi Electric instead.

I don’t think the other LG, etc brands are good compared to ME…

It's so true! Some even do grassroot n move house and its not guarantee to get in. If ballot out also don't know what to say. I actually wanted to do grassroot so can get in through phrase 2b since we are just staying next to school B but my hubby hate the idea of doing volunteer or grassroot. He said if I'm going to do it I might as well go back to work since I'm so free to provide my service to others. Lol.

I recalled that a normal grassroot volunteer won't work; you need to be grassroot community leader, which apparently is very difficult to get...
PV is probably a lot easier...

Does any Parent knows what we need to bring for the data admin exercise on 23 or 24 Oct?

Saw it pasted on the board during Phase 2C onsite but haven't receive any letter/email on it yet.

Also, we have a P1 orientation on 17 Nov, right? What do we need to bring?

      i)
      for Data Admin exercise day
just bring the same documents as usual, like what you had brought for your P1 Registration day.
      eg : your daughter's birth-certificate, etc.

you may book the school bus, on Data Admin day.

      ii)
P1 Orientation is on 17 Nov.

Your daughter can come to school wearing home clothes, put on her name tag (which will be issued to you, before 17 Nov)

The Form Teachers will bring them to their own class, get them to introduce themselves, Tr bring them walk around the school compound premises, canteen, etc. to familiarise.

      :thankyou:
