I have 2 neighbours, 1 boy at Catholic High and the other boy at Victoria School. Both have their aggregate of around 255.


The mum whose son is in Catholic High strongly advise to reconsider opting for this school as it is very academically driven. Understand that they perform well for last year 'O' level. The boy is also stressed and so is the mum. They have lots of China scholar too which is very competitive. Moreover, Catholic JC is not really doing too well too.

The boy from Victoria School is balanced in his work and cca and could not wait for the weekend to be over to go back to school. Though he comes back home late almost everyday, he looks happy. Have seen the boys around east coast area and they behave well and very composed too.

Not considering RI or HCI as these are tough to cope with that aggregate.

RV is to be located at Boon Lay soon and distance is a problem.

ACS and SJI's school fees is rocket high and with that aggregate, you can't obtain EESIS scholarship.

VS is autonomous and is the only government boy school. Considering that VJC is one of the top 3 JC, wonder if anyone would consider VS a good choice?

Catholic JC is not affiliated to Catholic High. In fact it is affiliated to SJI if I'm not mistaken. A common misunderstanding.

Honestly speaking,I never send my boy to any tuition but he is a very self-displined boy and manage to be the top of class for the past 2 year.I heard that some of wealth family send their kid to GEP course although the kid might not be gifted ,but still get into GEP .Sometimes I just felt a bit unfair for my boy, to us, GEP test is totally blind for us. We knew nothing about it.I am not intend to send my boy to GEP school, just want him to at least know some types of the questions,maybe just 2 questions from math and english at least ,so that we could understand what gep like.

I canno afford to send my son for any GEP course.I just want one or two quesions for him to take a look.ai,maybe because people pay huge amount of it, not willing to share.anyway, thanks for all kindess from all of you.

The GEP questions used to be MCQ but last year the questions are 50% MCQ and 50% long questions.

My son is currently in one of the SAP sch. It is really very far from home. It will take him 1hr to travel to sch and another 1hr back home which will be 11am to leave and 7.40pm back. He is doing well in all his 3 subjects. He had no breakfast as his lunch is at 10.30am. Is there a difference in education standard between SAP sch and neighbourhood sch? Will sending him to a neighbourhood pri brings down his standard?

I don't think there is much difference. Most schools, SAP or not, focus on the top 2 classes. If your son is presently in one of those classes in his current school, be prepared to be transfered to a not so when he is transfered to a new school initially.

One important thing to consider is his adaptability in the new school. He has to make new friends again. His new classmates may not want to mix with him. Emotionally and socially he will be affected.

My child join P1 this year and doesn't enjoy school. He gave reasons like he'll miss us, or the teachers are fierce etc. However, I think the root of his problem is he's bored.


After many talks, I discover that he find lessons very boring as he can't play and he already knows what is being taught. He came from a playbased childcare, thus I'm wondering how to help him.

If you are still giving your child advance lessons, I think you should stop in the mean time. The reason your son is bored is that he already knows his works.

For those whose child did not qualify under the primary school phases for Pri.1 admission, your child is still able to go to his/her choice school through other talents, in most cases from Pri.2 - Pri.4. You can check with the choice school, they are able to advise you.

4.St. Andrew Junior -- swimming

I believe good interpersonal skill can be cultivated and not learnt for young children. Mostly, they are influenced by external factors e.g. school environment, television programmes and siblings, etc…

I keep wondering whether am I in the wrong forum. I believe this is Kiasu parents forum not \"Pretend\" parents forum. Or am I in the wrong tread \"any parents of gifted kids\" or \"any parents of assumed gifted kids\".

It is very easy to be in the back seat commenting and criticizing. It's easy to watch a movie and criticize but please give credits to those in the casts and personnel involved. How can you possibly know first hand when you do not spend 24 hours of your days involving gifted kids. Everything you mentioned was mostly from secondary sources. Just because ones choose to believe that their kids are gifted, but are they truly?

If those who followed this tread carefully, you will know who started the spark by quoting \"Even with the gifted test results, what do the numbers mean?\". It's unfair to those parents who send their kids for assessment. It's ironical to see someone who disapprove of our education system still put their children in one and being an educator here puzzled me.

I don't disagree for the sake of disagreeing. Do you really believe you know everything? If not why comment based on I heard from so and so. I write only of things that I have experienced not by heresay. Mostly importantly, I know which tread to write.

Everything written here is for your reference and discretion. For those who misunderstood my intention, please read the tread from where the spark ignite. why take it so hard when I said \"the number means much more to me\". This tread is for parents to share their experience on working on our gifted kids. Do you know that it is not easy to raise a gifted child? Of course you don't, you are not in the club. Do you really believe that a child who is advance than his peers is gifted? Think again and don't make your children believe that. If you have read my previous tread, you will know that I believe in \"Play to Learn and Learn to Play\" when I teach my children. I have never tell my friends and relatives about my son's abilities. I'm just a believer that a gifted child will have a gifted siblings, why is that so hard for you to digest?

Very much we would like to believe our judgments are right, sometimes different circumstances need different measures. That's what this forum is for. For raising a gifted child is not what you have read from secondary sources and pretend to be an education expert and start posting comments. Free advice to you, get first hand informations before you comment in this tread.
