    • RE: Maha Bodhi

I thought I may confuse the parents here, my girl currently in P2, and recently just finished banding class in 2017, heard 3H in 2017 is best class, but usually 3I is the best class. Anybody know what’s the criteria for 2017 class banding? Based on English and Math, if these two are criteria, above how many marks for these two subjects, students can promote to class 3H?

    • RE: Q&A - P5 Math

Hi, My girl is P5 student at MBS in the best class. Her math backslid since SA1, from 95 marks in P4 to 75 marks in SA1 P5 (highest score in class is 99) and scored very bad during few class tests (5/20 etc.). Already had Mind Strecher tuition since P3, I realized she is quite confused on what methods to be used for prob sloving questions. Appreciate your guidence on how to improve her math in short period of time? Also Any other tuition centre can recommend?

Not really understand why Under CHIJ primary school family can go to ST Nick Sec? MOE website show different Chij primary schools have different affililated Secs e.g. St. Joseph's convent,St. Theresa' convent, but only St. Nick primary afflicated to St.Nick Sec? Pls shed light on this

If you intend for her to enter SCGS secondary (your 2nd choice), you should try for SCGS Primary lah. It's not as difficult as St Nicks (coz lower population there) and less PVs.

from Jan 2013, two new IP Sec \"All girls\" schools added.
think St Nick Sec going to be more popular than SCGS, because:-

      i) cheaper school fees (< $30 per month) , compared to SCGS Sec (> $200 per month, if can't get bursary / scholarship funding financial help).
For 4 years (from Sec 1 to Sec 4) - the amount of savings can be quite substantial, if work out the $ difference between them.

Not really understand why Under CHIJ primary school family can go to ST Nick Sec? MOE website show different Chij primary schools have different affililated Secs e.g. St. Joseph's convent,St. Theresa' convent, but only St. Nick primary afflicated to St.Nick Sec? Pls shed light on this
ii) St Nick Sec tend to attract a large pool of Convent girls.
CHIJ family very big! comprise a few \"sisters\" schools - all sharing the same faith, belief / culture from assorted:-
CHIJ Toa Payoh, Katong, Kellock, OLGC, OLQP, OLN.

They all share the same common IJ spirit, even though they may come from different individual IJ primary school(s). For 10 years, they grow up together on a familiar IJ school spirit, from P1 to Sec 4. \"Once an IJ girl, always an IJ girl.\"

St Nick Sec offering \"IP track\" from 2013 onwards - thus tend to become a more common focused ground, gathering & uniting a lot of IJ primary school girls, esp. if they're able to meet the new Integrated Programme Cut off point direct express non-stop train to \"A\" level. Unlike in the past where each IJ primary has their own, individual affliated IJ Secondary school.

      iii) for O level track:-
St Nick appears to be stronger, producing better O level crop compared to SCGS. We often hear St Nick name reported & appearing on Straits Times newspapers, compared to SCGS, or Cedar Sec.

iv) St Nick Sec is a Catholic, mission school. SCGS not a mission school.
Some parents might prefer a mission based school - because introduce character values into the school.

      v) St Nick Sec is a SAP school. SCGS is not.
Some parents might prefer a SAP school, a more Chinese oriented culture environment.
