      csc:
ACS(I) students in the IP programme do not sit for \"A\" levels. They will take the IB Diploma exam which most students in International Schools are doing.

      That's the big difference.
Please note that only students above the cut off point go for the IB Diploma programe. The rest will sit for 'O' Level. This year I think they only allow those above 260 go for the IP six years programe. The rest are for 4 years 'O' Level programe.

      Hi,

      Happy New Year!!!

Can I know when will the boys get their EMB information?

      thanks

Should be during orientation period. It takes a while for the Sec 1 boys to get used to checking EMB everyday. But it is very important and I would say reminding the boys to check EMB daily is the most important thing a Sec 1 parent can/need to do. 😂

      Hi wonderm,

Thanks. It is Day 3 of their orientation. Will check if they get it.

      cheers.

Hello Pa Pa Na Na and Kiasuson!

There are many Sec 1 parents here, looking forward to greater sharing!

Kiasuson, wow different schools for your ds, does it make your logistic more :slapshead: ? 😄
Yes. Logistic is a problem. 😓 But it is important to let DS choose what's he thinks is right. Logistic problem can be sorted out.

Anyway, my elder DS is in Yr 6 next year and it is one more year to go... :xedfingers:

Look forward to meet up and hope we can continue to exchange notes in the forum.

      Hi all,

My younger DS will be joining the school next year. I will like to thanks parents and seniors for sharing in the forum. My DS and myself were able to get a lot of information to aid his decision to select the school during the DSA exercise.

Just to share, my elder DS is in RI and I always have the impression that my younger DS will join him. But he decided otherwise after the Open house and discussion with his brother.

      thanks

I will want to add my views. This is financial assistance and should not compare with getting into IP and O level. MS also have Social Studies to cope and they are graded too. I have asked MOE since my DS1 5 years ago and still did not get a response. The problem is the independent schools. We should get rid of it since I did not see any benefit so far from the system. The teachers are well paid 10% more than normal schools but their passion are not as good as the normal schools. Their turnover is also high. DS1 has to live with a few temp teachers in the secondary days even though he is in a so called Independent school. I still cannot see the benefit of independent school. Maybe some parents can share?

I kinda suspect that many are not aware of the difference between GEP Social Studies and Mainstream Social Studies.. Many still think that they are the same.. :slapshead:

If you have the chance to look at the numerous SS projects that the GEP kids do over 3 years (P4-P6), and also all the other individual & group projects / assignments which are NOT related to PSLE, you will understand why MOE decides to reward these kids differently..

Hi...I want to share that my DS in MS have done some similiar project as GEP students. Maybe not 100% but at least 70%. Their marking might not be so strict as compare to GEP. How I know? I have a chance to review some GEP social study projects. I also check with some schools that they did this to ensure their high abilities students able to cope with the same workload as the GEPs. I presume different schools will have different approach. Please do not be surprise if some school carries the same or maybe 90% of the GEP social studies syllabus.

      thanks

Not sure it will affect decision on selection of schools. Eg. this year highest score might be only 270... and our DC result are about 25x... We will have no guidance of how the cohort perform.. 🤷

[quote=\"R3mom\"]MOE press release - The results of the 2013 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) will be released on Friday, 22 November 2013. Students may obtain their result slips from their respective primary schools from 11.00 am on 22 November 2013.

      http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2013/11/release-of-2013-psle-results.php

      Note:
The highest and lowest PSLE aggregate scores will not be printed on the PSLE result slips from this year to allow the student to focus on his own achievement and holistic development.

There would be more speculation and more hits on ksp to find out the highest T score this year.

So this year, it is not only to find out where the top scorer come from but also what is the top score!
