I went to register for the weekend class under the alumni this week and I checked about the payment issue if the timing clashes with the basketball and speech and drama. The lady told me register when school reopens as the basketball and speech and drama timing are not out yet AND they are compulsory as this is under MOE directive. At least no need to speculate anymore. They are compulsory. I will have to register the weekend class after first week of school. Hopefully it will not affect her afternoon swimming lesson

So u did not register in the end? Waiting for school to advise?

      Hi Parents,

From P1 orientation, I have this Weekend Activities 2012 booklet, I wish to register Math for my DS (Sat, 11:30am-13:00pm), but understand the school have S&D/Basketball on Sat morning, no matter compulsory or not, if I want to take the S&D, means I can't go for Math? What's the point then to have this booklet? Any parents have the same problem? Thanks!

Yes i am having the same problem too and that is y i am asking if anyone confirm the S&D and basketball are confirmed compulsory or not as i want to sign my girl up for one of the weekend activity which falls on Sat.

Me too waiting for news from school before signing up weekend activities. Anyone know when will school be confirming?

if there is a choice, then i would like to let him attend the speech and drama.
This yr, the Lorna Whiston S&D course is conducted during school time, using few English periods one of the weekday. So not to worry, it should not be on Sat. It will end in Sep with a performance.
Or is it going to change next yr? Oh no, my sat also super pack! If like that, got to opt out already since it’s not compulsory. Like that at least better, this yr, if opt out, very boring for the kids not involved, they still got to sit there and watch. Come rehearsal/performance, they also won’t be involved. Actually they may feel inferior, so most parents will try to sign up. It’s not cheap, about $260, part of it can be paid by Edusave.

Anyway, most of us find the quality/outcome not so good though by a well known school and native speakers. Not worth the money after watching the performance…very disappointed indeed.

      Basketball is something new.
I would think is sat morning for speech and drama and basketball… It’s highlighted that for next year is sat morning…

Anyone sign up for alumin course like ballet or violin ?
