actually my concern is...notwithstanding parents' wishes to get their child into schools of their choices, we haven't given thought to the morale of the teachers and staff of those schools where in Phase 2C have loads of vacancies because nobody wants to go there. Even the best and motivated teachers in that \"unwanted\" school will despair after a while and that \"unwanted\" school stays \"unwanted\" for a long time

Our system is really quite sad

it is. i also dont think there is true meritocracy. pri/sec affiliation score advantage has to be scraped. even if my kids are in affiliated schools, i will support it. there is also a divide with have and have nots. some schools only have private property around them and if you want to get in to those schools, you either buy or rent.

the new moe kindergarten affiliation to pri school is an interesting new twist but affiliation is not the way forward.

Then the first thing to do away is phase 2A1
totally agree!!!
We need to ballot at SCGS.

How does the balloting work? Can grandparents attend on my behalf?

Hi ksjac, do you mean SCs less than 1km need to ballot? Can i have the breakdown for SGCS? Thanks

At 4.45pm it was announced 57 applicants (<1km) for 55 seats. Someone came in at 4.10pm to apply and it pushed to 57.
Thanks ksjac. Wish you LUCK! :xedfingers:

For SCGS, according to the school staff:

      vacancies = 55
      SCs < 1km = 50

Janet, can I know the procedure and how long to 'Deregister'? Thanks šŸ™‚

It doesn't take long to withdraw. However, some schools require both parents' NRICs for withdrawals and you also need noth parents' NRICs for the application with P2C school. Hence, you have to take into consideration the amount of time you spend commuting from one school to the other and to register in the latter school in time.

      Thanks qms.
So I guess to deregister, it can be completed and updated to the MOE within few hours? And, we can submit our new application the same day?

Thanks all for the advises. Will discuss with my husband again.

But can I check if I got a place at Phase 2B already, can i still register for Phase 2C? What are the criteria? Such as i must give up the place i got in phase 2B before i can submit my application in phase 3? or i can keep the place ? Thanks šŸ™‚

if you secure a place at 2B and want to register for 2C, then you would have to deregister FIRST...bearing in mind that if you lose a chance at 2C, you cannot go back to 2B again. And if you lose the chance at 2C, then you would have go for 2Cs.

Janet, can I know the procedure and how long to 'Deregister'? Thanks šŸ™‚
