My son 249+2 cannot get into Catholic High (O-level) and he gets to Nan Chiau. May I know if an appeal stands a good chance to Catholic High?

Yes.
How does the waitlist work? For example, if you put a wait-list school as 1st preference, and a CO school 2nd preference.
I there is not a spot for the waitlisted school, you would then be allocated to the 2nd preference? -

No, the primary Schools teachers do not know the outcome of students’ DSA, in fact some teachers asked the students who received CO, WL etc.

RE: DSA 2020 - NUSH
Whether your WL is converted to CO is nothing to do with your PSLE result at all. Yes, the final result of DSA posting(CO or WL converted to CO or unsuccessful WL)is printed on PSLE result slip on the PSLE result release day.
This is from my eldest DS and his classmates’ experience. Some got WL but didn’t convert to CO even the PSLE result was good and met the COP while some didn’t meet COP but converted to CO, so it is about the ranking of the WL but not PSLE result. Hope this helps. -

RE: DSA 2020 - NUSH
This happened 5 years ago. Just to share that not all WL will be converted so you won’t feel dissapointed in the end.
For my own boy’s experience, he didnt get any offer from H which was his dream school but WL from R. In the end, his PSLE TScore was above of both COP and was higher than many of those who were offered CO from both R and H. He exercised his WL that was converted to CO on the result release day as we had already decided since day 1 of DSA application that we would exercise CO/WL for either H or R. He has been enjoying his school life in R since many classmates went to R too. So do not feel bad if your children did not get any offer from DSA, they will do well and shine in PSLE. -
RE: DSA 2020 - NUSH
so chances for those under WL usually v high?
not really, let me share a story with you. one of my eldest son’s classmate got WL from both R and H, in the end he didnt get any offer from both but instead used his PSLE result to apply to R. He’s from GEP. -
