Depends on what you intend to do with them.
Can candidate bring in hand phone, pen or paper into the zoom room in our house for NUS medicine interview ?
At the onsite interview, candidates were required to leave their belongings outside the room. -

The NUS invitation letter states that there are 2 stations - Scenario station and Portfolio station. Interview style, not written.
For NTU, it is MMI -

[quote=SAMKY post_id=1909547 time=1557395145 user_id=177456]My daughter doesn't think she'll make it to NUS YLL, but she she said she wanted to study medicine at Duke as a postgraduate. I'm not sure if this is a better or if we should just try to send her overseas.. Her teacher told us about a medical seminar by NUS called So You Want To Be A Doctor?. She said it was very popular last year and is happening again this year at the end of May. It supposedly has many doctors and professors from NUS YLL, Duke NUS and NTU LKC... Has anyone heard of it/attended it before?
There are factors to consider in deciding between the Duke-NUS and overseas universities such as:
-whether your daughter is willing and able to live away from home
-cost of an overseas education (have to buffer for accommodation/ living expenses)
-no of years of study (certain countries are 5 or 6 years versus 7-8 years at Duke-NUS)
-vacancies at the overseas university (there are quotas for international students doing med in the overseas universities)
etc
As for the seminar you mentioned, I can't comment on it as my DD has not attended it but if it was popular and recommended, go for it
I encouraged my DD to attend various seminars/ workshops/ shadowing to expose her to what the profession is about before she makes her decision.
Thank you! The points for consideration are helpful. Just one more thing though, do you/anyone know if it's harder for students who studied medicine overseas to get positions in Singapore? To be precise, is there a quota for accepting students with international medical degrees? Also reg the medical seminar, I've just signed us up! Maybe we'll get to speak to some of the doctors there? :xedfingers: If anyone else is interested, it's called So You Want To Be A Doctor? on Peatix.

I don't know if there is a quota (internal or otherwise) for international medical degrees. It seems like it would depend on the performance of the conditionally registered doctors from recognised universities.

It is essentially 8 years for two degrees. As the Duke-NUS degree is a post grad one, it makes sense for it to be really crammed and rushed as the mid-career students would want to graduate quickly and get back to working to support their families. For those pursuing the post grad immediately after their first degree, I imagine they would want to start work sooner than later after already spending a good part of a decade studying in the uni.kira\" post_id=\"1908909\" time=\"1557061852\" user_id=\"88758:
Thanks jtoh.
Looking at the 4+4 years at Yale-NUS and Duke NUS, seems like the course gives equal emphasis on both degrees. I agree 4 years in Duke-NUS is probably going to be rushed since NUS/NTU med are 5 year courses and UK is 6 years. But I guess 4+5 years may be pushing it.
You're right that they would want to start sooner than later! It's a long route to an MD qualification. -
