May I ask what is the commitment level for Japanese (eg once a week? And is it only at MOELC at Bishan)

Once a week at MOELC in Newton for Japanese

Thank you Sob7, Any idea if German is also at Newton? Especially now they just shifted to Braddell?

Another related to PA CCA, is it difficult to get into International Dance with no ballet certification? How about Choir? My DD says. O sports but open to PA or clubs..

From the open house that we had attended, the school is introducing BYOL which does not restrict to macbook. Link as below but best to wait for school to confirm come next year.

      https://www.rgs.edu.sg/rgs-1-1/byol

      BYOL

The development of RGS 1:1 started in 2010. It aims to provide students with the opportunity to pick up ICT skills in the course of learning the various subject disciplines. Students will be required to bring a laptop meeting the following specifications:
      minimum screen size 12.5\"
      8G RAM
      i5 processor
      7h battery life

      Hi,

Did any parent managed to download the open house slides (55 pages) during the open house? Did not realise I did not saved the file completely… thanks!

      Oh I see.
So people gauge by the issuance of the number of preference forms. Thanks!
Yes, as long as received at least one CO or Wait list from a Secondary school, you will receive the preference form

However, some, inspite having received the preference form, may not even be keen to exercise in the end.

      Case of my friend's daughter.
She applied for two Top \" All-girls\" IP independent schools : one SAP, the other Non-SAP. The SAP school rejected her (applied under Academic domain), after attended interview

But for the Non-SAP school at the brand new Braddell premises, she applied under Academic domain, went for interview, but the school did not offer her the Academic domain she wanted, instead offered her something else which she doesn't want, not interested in due to heavy commitment expected. So, even though gotten the DSA preference form, turned down in the end. Friend said her daughter is confident of entering this school by PSLE Tscore entry, because likely to score above 260, based on how she felt after the last psle paper over, on 1 October (Tuesday)

      2nd case
      Another different, opposite case.
Another friend's P6 daughter also applied for the IP Non-SAP school at the new Braddell campus site, also via Academic domain, attended interview but the school did not offer her Academic domain. Instead, they counter-offered her \"Leadership\" domain, because only from this year 2019 onwards, this IP (Non-SAP) All-Girls school started this new \"Leadership\" domain, so this domain is something new, this year. For this, friend's daughter is going to accept the \"Leadership\" DSA offer, in fact had already login happily with delight to accept the offer, because under \"Leadership\", no commitment expected, can just breeze in, \"eng eng ching ching\"

      3rd case
Another friend's daughter received CO, from both IP All-girls Top schools (SAP and Non-SAP), applied for both IP schools, under Academic domain. This is a \"happy\" dilemma to be in, choose which one ?

      4th case
Another friend's daughter received DSA CO (Academic) from a government / government-aided IP school. She told her mom that she is confident of scoring above 260. So now, still in dilemma, \"ding dong\" between accepting or turn down the DSA offer from the govt IP school, can't made up her mind, or enter by Psle Tscore into the brand new Braddell location IP school, the once-upon-a-time-historically occupied by Westlake Secondary school[/quote]
      Hi phtthp,
May I ask for the 2 cases where the non-SAP Braddell school counter offer these other domains (I presume sports & community leadership), did the girls even apply for them during DSA?

    • RE: All About PSLE AL Scoring System

      Extracted from ST,

“Such changes should not be dropped on students in the midst of their curriculum. If such a policy is to be introduced, it should commence from 2023 at the earliest, so that students and parents seeking exemption now have time to consider their options.

MADAM MARIANNE WEE, whose Primary 3 daughter is studying French, as she had struggled with Chinese when she started primary school. The girl’s father is British.”

      ——

Sorry, but to me you can’t have the cake and eat it. MOE should have been more forthcoming with regards to the AL scoring for MTL exemption… likewise I am very curious to know how the affiliation cut off will be especially for the hot schools. It would be better if these could be announced earlier by 2020.

Timmy21, maybe can just call RGS GO to find out. Could be a sports CO which might be released earlier?

She applied for english / maths domain, so cannot be sports CO.

Can I clarify if you had meant that your DD had received rejection letters from RGS after the selection test in EL and Math?

Have just gotten off the phone with rgs and staff reiterated that there is NO interview/ 2nd round for English, math and science domains.

Assessment (of the girls) was all done during the selection trials that they have gone for.

The results will be released definitely towards the end of August, because the school doesn’t want it to clash with the upcoming prelims.

For now, I’m gonna stop refreshing my email page 😂 And only start on 3rd week of August. Haha.

I just called up RGS to check on EL DSA, and was told that there will not be a separate interview after the selection test. I guess we can only wait patiently for the outcome…
