• RE: Tailor

      hquek:

CYC is established brand, and apparently LKY (THE LKY) uses them - I've never been inside personally.

We used Oxford to tailor my hubby's shirts during wedding. Now he just buy off the rack.
I've tried some of the options I found at the http://www.singapore-tailor-guide.info website, including http://www.singapore-tailor-guide.info/tailor-directory/cyc-the-custom-shop - they're certainly good, but you won't get much change from $200/shirt with them. For me that's fine for a shirt or two, or if I'm in a hurry, but in general I'd rather be getting two or three shirts in different colours for extra wardrobe variety at the same price.

    • RE: All About Aircon (New, Maintenance, related components)
From previous experience, i do not sign contracts with aircon compannies. I tell them that if i need to assess their service first before deciding. Anyway i think 3 monthly servicing of air con is not necessary if you clean it frequently on your own. If they need to do more, as in your case, i will always ask them what is the total amount including all the labour charges and gst before deciding. If it is too expensive, i will tell them that i will need to discuss with hubby and may also need to get 2nd opinion.
I have to agree with you - aircon contracts seem like a terrible idea to me, after trying it once. A three monthly service contract is pretty arbitrary, your aircon will need servicing more or less often depending on how you actually use it - probably a lot less often, in most cases!

I like the approahch i read about from http://www.igloo.com.sg about http://www.igloo.com.sg/booking/annual - just book when you need it, instead of signing up and handing over your money before they've delivered on their service!
