    • RE: CPF withdrawal limit and housing

if im not mistaken, that's not necessarily accurate. As long as you don't have enough money in your cpf, the govt will deduct the essential amount to reach the minimum amount from your sale and put it back into your cpf. So if you had paid cash, you would be making a deposit into your cpf esentially, Just take your loan from a bank lah, easier than going through hdb. I got my http://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/loans/default.page from dbs, no such bs about deducting here and there really...

    • RE: MyRetirements by Aviva

sounds quite similar to posb reitrement planning plan no? in fact the name is also the same..MyRetirement. Their site has graphs and maths formula explaining how it works. Check out their http://www.posb.com.sg/personal/insurance/myretirement/default.page page. I would put the graphs here except i don't know how and it's too much of an hassle.

    • RE: Credit Card Scams - unauthorized purchases

The thing is the merchant is trustworthy but can’t say the same about the people. Most credit card scams is a result of the people that work there steal your info and sell it. There’s no way to prevent it. You either have a credit card or don’t. In which case you will have to settle for a simple atm bank card which doesn’t really make sense in today’s society. Some banks like dbs, ocbc offer monitoring services so if there’s any suspicious activity, you get notified immediately.

    • RE: Malaysia Ringgit Time Deposit

what I am more interested in, is if there's any kinda safety guarantee for foreigners putting money in m'sia banks. In the event of a financial crisis etc, will my funds be 'insured' by the govt? The interest rate is mighty attractive but if its not gonna be secured, i rather just go for local http://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/deposit/foreignfixed/default.page like those from DBS, OCBC, UOB.

    • RE: Personal Accident Insurance

My aunt also didn't buy any personal insurance for her kids when they were young, only relied on the school's insurance. I only buy two types of insurance now. When I travel, usually from Aviva or posb and http://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/insurance/driveshield/default.page for my car from dbs.

    • RE: Mortgage Insurance

I don't think need to get CI rider, I bought my mortgage http://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/insurance/homeshield/default.page from DBS and didn't include the CI option. I agree, worry about the CI separately.

    • RE: Student Loan

Some singapore banks only offer loans if you're studying at their partner/accepted universities. For overseas universities, the list of accepted universites gets shorter. For instance, posb has a promotional interest rate of 4.6% for their student loan but only if you're studying at SIM, Kaplan or PSB. For a full list, you can get it from their http://www.posb.com.sg/personal/loans/studyassist/default.page? page. Each bank should have a list of what institutions they accept so go take a look.

    • RE: NAFA School of Young Talents - Discussion

      lwzh:
At my son's time, he was asked to hear melody and sing back, hear chords and play back. Then play one or two songs. They may also asked to do very simple improvisation. All within jmc's syllabus I think.

The auditions are usually just to see if the potential student has any pitching, hearing of rhythm issues which are usually inborn and difficult to \"teach\" or \"train\".
