Hi all, I would like to consult the parents, do dyslexic children often give answers that are opposite in nature? My 6yo boy always gives opposite answers; yes will say no, love will say hate, etc. And this happens almost 80% of the time. He knows he’s giving the wrong answer on purpose because it usually ends with a cheeky smile. Despite telling him it’s not right, he still does it. Just want to find out if this is normal. Emotionally drained… Thanks.

RE: All About Dyslexia
Hello parents,
I got a query about deferring your child for primary 1 education. Did anyone of you decide to send your child with special needs to primary 1 when they are aged 7, although they have been advised to defer for a year?
I hope that someone can share your decisions then, and what good/bad did it do for your child. Did the school have adequate resources to help and support the child in view of the outcome, and was it a critical factor?
Thank you. -

If he has already turned 6, you can send him for assessment at DAS.

RE: All About Dyslexia
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. How many children are there in your child's class? Do they match the students by ability or by their age/education level? Thanks!
RegardsTWU:
Good morning korbu,
My child is attending literacy therapy session at Cheers Learning Services.
My child feels very comfortable with the Educational Therapist in-charge
and her teaching approach.
His self-confidence level used to be low and refused to attend lessons at
school. After attending therapy sessions since 3 1/2 months ago, my child
tells me there is improvement when he reads and his self-confidence
level has been improved. His form teachers, MT teacher and teacher of
Learning Support Programme can see his improvement too. -

Do any of you send your children to Cheers Learning at Bukit Batok? I would like to hear any feedback about their teaching, and the child’s receptivity/reciprocation to their teaching. Any other recommendations of Pte intervention tutoring in the west? Appreciate your replies. Thanks.

RE: Bigger or smaller K2 for your child?
Hi Parents,
Would like your advise and opinion on whether a larger K2 class is beneficial for the child to transit to primary school. Or would a smaller class benefit the learning for the child at this level?
Currently my DD is in K1 with 22 kids in total and recently I’ve decided to send my DS to an infant care. Anyway, this is my DD’s first year at this current school. She was in her previous CC for 2 years before we switched her here, because we shifted.
So I’m contemplating whether to send both siblings to the same CC now because my DD’s CC doesn’t offer infant care services. The new CC will obviously be smaller due to it being a new setup.
Apart from the convenience, I’m also wary of changing school for my DS at this stage. Any advice? -
