Received SMS to go for orientation in Nov…but we’ll be overseas on said day.
Any parents who experienced not going for orientation? How do we prepare our child for Day 1?? Emailed the school but no reply from them yet.

There will still be competition for our dragon kids when entering Sec 1. Due to the bigger cohort, I imagine that the cut-off points will be higher for the good schools as compared to other years.

RE: 2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake
I've also just completed registration at school.
Overheard the admin lady asking 1 parent why she did not go for any earlier phases. This is the 1st time she is registering. Din know there could be parents like this :scratchhead: -

Is the admission/ballot for 2CS the same as earlier phases? Meaning SC ahead of PRs + home-school distance? Or is it free play everyone equal chances? Thanks for advise
SC always 1st priority, followed by home school distance, followed by PRs -

I haven't got SMS from moe as of now 10:57am....What's going on?
Might be because your number wasn't captured correctly?
Give it a little while more and call the school to ask in the afternoon if still no news. -

RE: So who is at fault here? Teacher or parent?
There was no such thing as handphone numbers and instant messaging when we were growing up. Our parents have no means of helping us check with teachers when we forget our work. It’s our own fault if we forget and get scolded by the teachers. We all still grow up fine.
Kids are simply too pampered nowadays. -

Totally agree!!!...my hubby always misunderstand my meaning through whatsapp :slapshead:I showed my DD2 and asked her who’s in the wrong. Instead, she identified the misunderstanding due to the act of messaging via hand phones.
While messaging, one cannot convey the tone. If the parent and the teacher were to have this conversation face to face, and the teacher is smiling and saying it with a polite tone, the same message won’t feel offensive. But now, through text messaging, the parent has interpreted the message as being rude.
Sometimes, even husband and wife can also quarrel due to such mis understanding while using WhatsApp. Not to mention two unrelated people who barely know each other.
