Hi, my boy took his IQ test last year when he was 5 years 8 months. He was verbal at that time.

You mentioned that your boy is non-verbal as in he can’t say a single word?
If yes, how did he communicate with the people around him? My boy also can’t express his needs at times.

      Have a good weekend!

Forgot to add that my boy can talk but still not good yet. He can request for things and can answer simple questions but still can’t engage in any conversation yet.

      He’s currently having ABA therapy.

      Cheers

      Hi Mitogal

Sorry for the late reply as I do not check this thread often…

I have actually applied through the normal route that is to take IQ test and submit the application. My boy was called for the PL assessment too. It was in August last year that PL called me informing me that my boy got into this pilot program. The parents whose their child were selected for this program went to PL for briefing as Mrs Denise Phua explaining to us about this program.

Is your boy attending any speech therapy or other kinds of therapy?

      Cheers

Wow nice to see so many mummies here! Hello to all!

I reckon my boy’s curriculum will be intensive as he has 2 years to catch up… So will see how it goes. Hopefully he’s able to follow the curriculum and brush up his verbal skill. I’m really interested to see what will the curriculum be!

ImMeeMee, you are right to say that PL is always willing to try new things as they don’t have to open a special program just to suit kids like my boy. A lot of resources will be needed but they still go ahead to try it out.

I still remembered what Denise Phua said during our briefing on this special program…she said," I’m not sure if it works but I will try my very best to make it work." The parents were very touched upon hearing this.

Hi all! I'm new in this tread but have been reading the posts from the autism forum 😄

My boy will be attending PL next year but he's in the special program which is a pilot program just launched. My boy is the 1st batch for this program.
While my boy scored above PL's requirement for the non-verbal IQ but he has scored below for the verbal IQ. Guess that's the reason PL is giving these kids like my boy a chance to study in PL. There are only 5 kids in this program. It's a 2 years program...they will proceed to pri 1 after 2 years...but only if they are able to follow the mainstream curriculum.

I'm thankful for this program though my boy will be 2 years behind but it doesnt matter as long as he is giving a place in PL. I believe it will be a good learning environment for him.

I went for the registration today..no books for my boy yet as the teachers are still planning for their curriculum.

Thanks ImMeeMee for starting this tread as we can share our kids' journey
      in PL.

I am also curious to know if anybody are in the same program as my boy
      :?

      Sorry for the long post!
