yes about 40+ people. they have 2 rounds of audition in 1 day. your solo performance first and then based on that, they will select about 15 people to go to the 2nd round which is the resident choreographer’s round. you will learn a set of choreo and then you will have to perform it. after that only 5 person will be chosen. if you don’t do contemp or classical ballet it’s still ok, just show perform the genre you are most comfortable with.

I don't think JC DSA has GAT. I've never heard about it from my friends who DSAed via sports and academics.

      Interesting. I wonder why.

because if the student is deemed academically unfit for the sch, the sch will reject the student even if the student is good at what he/she does. that's what happened to me unfortunately haha

Is GAT an admission test? If it is then I don’t think so.

Full info can be found on the sch’s website itself. The updated version for this year’s DSA will normally be up in April/may. I didn’t audition for RI but normally some sch will require students to perform an ORIGINAL solo choreo of about 1 -2 mins infront of the resident choreographer, teacher in charge and the chairperson of the dance society. Audition process is about an hour, students will be required to learn a set of choreo from the chairperson and perform it in maybe a group of about 5 students infront of them. The process is not easy, for top JCs maybe as many as 40 people will go down for the audition. Solo choreo will either be before or after the set choreo. Academics is equally important, for top JCs L1R5 should not exceed 20 points

Hi all! I just want to get opinions on a dilemma I am facing right now. Recently after the O level results were released (9 jan 2012), I found out that I obtained a raw sscore of 12 (10 after deducting cca bonus points). I want to apply for Meridian Junior College's science stream, but I missed the cut of point by 1. I'm still thinking of placing mjc as my top choice, but am unsure if that is a wise choice or not. I took triple pure sciences and A maths in O levels. I have an A2 in all my subjects except chinese (B3). Any help on this?

you should put it as your first choice and then try to appeal in to the sci stream after you're accepted. otherwise you can consider other schools?

Wow that sounds tough.. Not sure if she can get distinction. May I know what do u recommend to learn another genre of dance?
      lanadelrey:

She needs to get distinction for every grade to show that she is consistent 🙂 Consistency plays a major part in showing that your girl is good at what she does. if your girl is very interested in dance i will advise you to let your girl learn another genre of dance to set herself apart from the others. It is important to let her gradually build up her portfolio so it is not late to start now.

Oh it is manageable, i got distinctions from grade 1 - 5 except for grade 4, i got a merit. As long as your girl enjoys ballet she will definitely want to train hard and do well for her exams 🙂 I will recommend hip hop. I used to do ballet but now i'm doing hip hop and street jazz and am currently on my dance studio's teens performance team 🙂 if you will like to know more info here is the link:

Do you mean she needs to get distinction every grades? Or just grade 5 for DSA application.

[quote=\"i3mum\"]Wanted to ask if the first exam is grade 2? Any thoughts or comments? Will this affect application for DSA?

Most likely it will not affect. More importantly is for your girl to get distinction for her exams. May i ask how old is your girl?
