    • RE: Free Tuition Lessons

      superkiasume:
My boy has attended 2 lessons, even though he already has an existing tutor. It's free anyway. Hmm. Anyway, he said this tutor is very patient and good.

I sent my boy for the free lessons after reading your post. My boy has a lot of maths problem sums to ask. He wanted to consult his school teacher initially. But now they are all solved. 😄

Did anyone else receive a flyer about free Maths and Science tuition at Toa Payoh?

It was written on the flyer that each student can receive up to 8 lessons.

Classes are conducted by a full-time tutor and published assessment book writer.

Has any parent sent their child for the free lessons? Any feedback if the lessons are useful?

    • RE: All About Preparing For Secondary 1

I posed an earlier qn about tuition rates. I have checked around recently, and these are some of the rates for Secondary 1 that I have found:

      1) Mind Stretcher
      Monthly fee - weekday $235.40 / weekend $246.10 (for 1 subject)
      Lesson duration - 2 hours

      2) Stalford
      Monthly fee - $170 (for 1 subject)
      Lesson duration - 1.5 hours
(Additional amount if there are 5 lessons per month, instead of the usual 4)

      3) Krtc
Monthly fee - Varies according to center and tutor; about $40 - $60 per session)
      Lesson duration - 1.5 hours

I have not enrolled my child yet. If any parents have any feedback, pls kindly share. Thanks.

    • RE: Lower Secondary Science

I was at Bras Basah Complex with my wife yesterday. They were a lot of parents at the Popular outlet. I thought it’s the holidays now, and I could not believe that there were so many parents buying books there.

The staff there recommended a few books. One of them is the Smashing Exams Lower Secondary Science Volumes A and B. I bought both volumes. Also, I also bought Wiseman Comprehensive Guide.

Hi Goodluck8, can I know what are the rates in the tuition center that you send your child to?

And do I have to make advance payments?

Thank you for the advice and reply, zbear. I will take note.

Actually, I am just thinking of getting a rough idea, as I may or may not be enrolling my child.

Does any parent here have any experience to share with regards to group tuition at secondary level? Especially with regards to the pricing. For example, by Mind Stretchers, Learning Lab, etc.

    • RE: All About Preparing For Secondary 1

Hi, my child is also entering secondary 1 next year. My wife and I don’t send our boy for outside tuition, but teach him ourselves.

Can I check with other parents with regards to tuition, in the event that we need to send our boy for extra lessons? (I am not sure if my wife and I can still cope with secondary work.)

      1) What is the typical rate for group tuition, say for English, Chinese, Maths and Science?

      2) For most tuition centers, do we need to make advance payment at the start of every month? Or after every 4 lessons?

      3) If my child misses one lesson, does he go for makeup, or is there a refund?

      Thank you.
