A bullet train left for Country Zoro at 0700. The train stopped over at Country Starz for half an hour before continuing its journey to Country Zoro. It reached Country Zoro at 1345. If the average speed of the train was 350 km/h, what was the total distance covered by the train?

      Area of each square frame = 24x24 - 18x18
      = 252

      24 - 18 = 6
      6/2 = 3

      Area of each shaded square = 3x3 = 9

Top and bottom left frames -(2) -> 2 shaded squares each

      252 - 9x2 = 234

Top and bottom middle and right and centre right frames (5)--> 4 shaded squares each

      252 - 9x4 = 216

Centre left and middle frames (2) --> 8 shaded squares each

      252 - 9x8 = 180

      234x2 + 216x5 + 180x2 = 1908

Area of frame without the overlapping is 1908 sq cm.

I would solve the above problem as follows :
      24 x 24 – 18 x 18 = 252
      252 x 9 = 2268
      24 – 18 = 6
      6/2 = 3
      3 x 3 = 9
      9 x 20 x 2 = 360
      2268 – 360 = 1908

Ans : 1908 sq cm.[/quote] :thankyou: alfretztay & Kangkangteo :salute: :salute: :salute:
