NYGS takes in affiliated students from Nanyang Primary so the cut off is probably elevated quite significantly due to that, no?

You are probably right about NYGS / affiliation. Comparison between the rest would still be valid though.

Nyps has a large cohort size of 400+ students. It's reported that 47+% students scored above 250 this year. Reliable source told me that worked out to be 220+ Nyps students who scored above 250. If we assume that half of the 220+ students are girls, that's over 100 girls. Minus those who have chosen other schools or have successfully Dsa, I believe it's still quite a number of Nyps girls who join nygh via affiliation hence vacancies remaining for non-affiliates are reduced. Therefore cop is high.

P/s: I'm not against affiliation or have anything against nygh affiliation policy. Pls don't start a war on affiliation as this post is only trying to make sense of nygh high cop

But I understand there is no affiliation for their IP.
MGS IP is the only girls' school that offers IB. Perhaps that's the reason the Cop is high. And as someone mentioned earlier above, MGS added one more IP class. That could be the reason MGS IP Cop shifted down a bit

    • RE: 2016 PSLE Discussions (Born in 2004)

      ImMeeMee:

Based on the factual information that I read from the S1 option form, the child can make 3 choices out of the three categories of languages offered. French, Jap and German fall in one category and only one language can be chosen from this category. MOELC will not randomly assign the child to a language that the child did not indicate on the S1 option form. There is also no field in the S1 option form for one to write a note to inform whatever preference within each category.

We only submitted one language for DD1 that she is interested in, and we are not worried that MOELC will assign her to another random language that she did not place option for if she cant get the language that she has opted for.

Such is my experience as a parent who is going through the actual process of s1 option for 3rd language now.
ImMeeMee, we're in the same situation - submitted only one language. Do you know how the allocation is done? By tscore? Thanks..

Checking in! My gal has been offered a place via English domain. She's very happy and looking forward! May I ask what's in store for the DSA English students? Thanks!!

Congratulations! Always curious what's the criteria for English Domain, any good tips to share? Did your DD take part in any English Debate, Story Telling or some Essay competition or any other achievements which you think it helps. Thanks

Thanks! She has taken part in essay and story writing competitions. She was in the creative writing programme run by MOE. And unsw icas. I'm not sure how important these are as compared to school results and performance at interview and and domain test though..
