    • RE: What to you pack for kids' recess/lunch in school?

I understand your view point, and agree that the process of buying the food themselves is a good and fun thing.

I plan to allow my kids to have like 2 days a week of purchasing their own lunch in school. But for the rest I will most likely pack lunch for them.

There are lots of recipes that can be made the night before, and warmed up in the morning before packing them in compact thermal bento box. Base on my own experience (I usually pack my own lunch to work), the food won’t be cold by lunch time. In fact some items such as tofu salad & onigiri are best served at room temp. anyway.

Was just wondering how many mummy and/or daddy, pack lunch for the kid/s instead of just giving money and asking them to buy from the canteen?

Reason for asking is when I go to some schools early this year for pre-registration visits, I noticed that the a large portion of the food sold seems very oily (no idea about salt content though).

I am not against such parties organised, just wondering any implications in SG before something happen.

Like it or not, give it a few short years before these Western powers start pushing same sex marriage as a \"basic human right\" and trying to add it into the UN Human Rights Charter.

Oh, and since some states in the US have started legalizing pot or marijuana, give it a few short years before a US pot industry springs up and the US starts pushing for the legalization of pot everywhere else under the guise of \"free trade\".

Actually this is happening now (except the marijuana part). The basic premise is if we don't accept this fact and be extreme in denouncing LBGT, they can impose sanctions if their law-makers decides that our laws and actions is anti-human right. This can be done without need to add it into the UN HR Charter.

So unless everyone wants to lose their jobs, house, life style, etc. due to departure of MNCs (depending on type of sanctions imposed), it would be much better to just live and let live.

    • RE: Kinderland

Is kinder land good? I would like to enroll my son turning 18 months soon to MMI or Cherie Hearts

Well… depends on what you mean by good.

Pros: The CCAs options are many. So this will help reduce enrichment classes outside of normal hours. Plus allow your child to be in a comfortable/familiar environment.

Cons: The teacher to child ratio is really pushed to the limit. You can see very obviously that management are more concern about profit and providing value for money services. The monthly fee is substantially higher then most neighborhood centers, but the higher fee does not translate to better T:C ratio.

All the other programs are pretty similar to the other center we have used before.

    • RE: Kinderland

Anyone feels like Kinderland seems over-priced for the services provided?

I mean we are paying a premium and expect to receive higher level services. But the classes are all extremely packed up, with teacher to child ratios right up there against MOM’s requirements.

I would have thought that with the higher fees, either the numbers of teachers should go up or the numbers of children should go down.
