Yes. Nanyang JC is one of the popular choices. More imptly is for them to go to different JC open house and it will give a better insight of which school they prefer, not necessarily how good the JC is. Distance is also another factor to consider as JC life is the toughest not only academic but also mental challenge.
      Hi Jann,

May I check if the gals are placed into secondary 1 classes based on PSLE score? Or any other consideration like DSA, taking higher mother tongue etc?

      Many thanks!!

Thanks , can you please recommend other options for 244 range ?

      Hi,

      You can consider:

-Paya Lebar MGS (much nearer to Sengkang compared to crescent or TKGS)

-Chij toa payoh (toa payoh MRT on red/yellow line)

      - St Margaret (Farrer Road MRT on circle line)

Thanks ! can i check whether getting to affiliate will not be an issue ( pupil friends) ?
Paya lebar MGS - they have not disclosed 2018 non affiliated score , not sure about their score.[/quote]Hi!
Regarding making friends in an affiliate school: if your gal is not an introvert, it should be alright. As there'll be 20% of spaces reserved for non affiliates, I think it'll be ok. Not to mention the number of DSA students coming in.

Plus, my DD herself is also going to an affiliate school. She doesn't know everyone at her P6 level this year anyway..

Regarding paya Lebar MGS: yes, won't know how the cop will be. But since there's 6 options, you can afford to try, if you think it's accessible and suitable for your gal. Just make sure that 5th or 6th choices are your safety nets that your daughter can safely enter. I think other forumners have spoken at length about making wise choices. πŸ˜„

Hi parents my daughter scored 195 for psle and we have been eyeing on st margaret's for a long time πŸ˜…πŸ˜… so we are def trying to aim for SMSS. i was formerly from a girls sch (tkgs to be exact) and i would love for my daughter to have the wonderful experience i have being in a girls school. I believe in the school's culture and having a good mix of students from diff races and cultures for my girl to interact with. I am staying at jurong east. Do u think its far from where the school is at.? I personally dont but hope to get input from other parents with regards to distance and whether it would be taxing for my girl in the long run.
I think it's pretty ok honestly. As St Margaret is walking distance from Farrer Road MRT, the commute is definitely much reduced as most of it would be on the MRT (assuming you've easy access to Jurong East MRT).

You can consider other girl schools too, such as chij TP (walk from toa payoh MRT), St Theresa's convent / paya lebar MGS (both no direct MRT access though).

      All the best! πŸ˜„

      Hi
Any students travel from red line ?

Based on moveit, we need to change to downtown line alight at botanic garden and walk 11 mins. I find it’s a little far to walk. Any other ways to travel ?
Hi, you should transfer to take the circle line and alight at Farrer Road MRT. It's a short walk of a few minutes only to the side gate of St Margaret (which is only for students to access I believe).

      So it's definitely accessible.

can you please recommend TKGS vs CHIJ Sengkang ?
      which one is better ?

      Crescent.
      TKGS.
      CHIJ St Joseph Convent.

In this sequence if these are only 3 you are considering.

Dear all, last post since 2015, appreciate inputs from anyone...
My girl is offered DSA - O level program from both CGS and SNGS.
      Currently in dilemma...
Both are great girl's school, congratulations! And given that SNGS O level stream will include girls from the primary division with varying scores from 230 onwards, it won't be very much of a difference compared to CGS.

Is distance a point of consideration then? Which is more convenient? Many have said secondary school days will be much lengthier than primary ones.

Also, SNGS has affiliation with CJC. Is this important to you in your gal's future plans?

Another point to consider will be the taking of higher mother tongue since SNGS is a SAP school (but I'm not sure if all students are expected to take higher mother tongue). Is this a concern?

Whichever the decision, I think it'll be great for your gal. πŸ˜„

I called ..and it seems we supposed to receive a package/booklet from school this month(to edit or Oct?)..inside would have info on the collection of results on behalf etc and also proxy form and docs needed if you are not in town..you would have the student PIN given on the results day+birth cert no. to do the online selection..however, you may want to take note in case you are unable to access due to blocking of some online access in certain countries..seems quite a few getting someone to collect on behalf due to travelling.. that is a rough one..just wait for the package/booklet ba.

Thank you! Shall wait for the package to find out the details. πŸ˜„

just refer to this MOE booklet for admission into 2019 Sec 1 cohort, will do, because

content for 2020 Sec 1 Admission (born 2007), is similar to 2019 Sec 1 admission (born 2006)

      per Secondary school -
all the various (Cca, highest T-score, O-level subjects / IP subjects) student can take, are found inside
