Many thanks. I know the prelim can not transfer to PSLE marks. But I noticed that if he got two A*s and only 254, that means the other two A is only nearly 80 marks, I could not accept that. Since my son always do well in Chinese and Science, I do not thinks he did so low marks in his PSLE. Thx
Hi, may I give my view on this.

I doubt if your ds gets only 80 marks for the other two subjects which he gets A. T score is measured against the cohort's result, not his raw score, so you can't take 254/300 *400 to estimate what is the raw score he gets for the other two subjects.

Secondly, PSLE t score measures the result of a candidate (vs the cohort) at a particular point in time - a particular day, a particular time. It may not reflect the actual ability of the student under normal circumstances.

So far I have heard of two appeals to see the papers and none gets better marks after the appeal. Both were top students in their school, one made mistakes in shading OAS, the other wrote out of point for the compo, so they didn't get the grades that was expected of them.

IMHO, 254+3 is a good score, he should be able to get into a good IP school. You may also consider appealing to the secondary school if he really can't get into his dream school. Just my thoughts and whatever decision you make, all the best to you and your son. πŸ˜„
Thanks so much. I know maybe appeal to school is a better choice, could you suggest me what need to prepare? We wants put the HCI and DHS as the first two choices , their COP of last year is 256, is it a good choice? Thx again

My son prelim translate to psle score is multiply by 0.7. My son said this year chinese picture compo is difficult to score. He took a huge risk to choose the other one and gave me sleepless nights.

My.son never get star for chinese since p5 (usually around or below class average) but he managed stars for both prelims and psle he surprised us. We felt luck played a part too. (He worked very hard too la)

I think you send in to review his papers if it gives you a better piece of mind. Will they review downwards ?

On top, maybe you can use his school results to appeal if you miss he cop by a little.

      All the best !

Many thanks. I know maybe the appeal is useless. Actually, my son rejected his DSA offer from Duman High School, since he wants to go to RI, so the result is a bad news for him.
Now he wants to apply HCI and DHS first, he failed, could we appeal to both school? And what we need to prepare?
      Thx again.

My son got 373 marks in his prelim , that means almost 280 marks. And he always got A* in Chinese and sometimes A* or nearly A* in Science. He also felt doing well in the PSLE , but the result taken is only 254+3, only A* in English and Maths, the other two subjects only got A. I don't make very clear the result comes out, should I apply appeal to MOE?

      Many thanks

What primary school is your kid from? I don't think primary school results can be directly translated to PSLE T-score. 254 + 3 sounds like a fairly viable score. You can try appealing but it'll be a very tedious process and the outcome is unlikely to change anything. If MOE accommodates you, they'll have to accommodate thousands of others as well.
