      Poets create poetry to convey strong emotions like sorrow, happiness and anger, etc.

      Some tips:
      - Read the text several times
      - Identify the emotion and what the poet is trying to convey
      - Spot the rhythm of the poem
      - Find out more about the poet, his life and his/her likes and dislikes
      - Research and learn about the different literary devices http://www.chaparralpoets.org/devices.pdf

      These may help to improve your child's understanding of nuances.
