My dd in P4 also received the circular for a Shanghai Immersion trip. The 7-days programme cost more than $1,600. The cost is inclusive of 2-day home stay. It is really expensive.

Does anyone know how many teachers will be going with the 40 kids?
Ya, not cheap. when my dd1 went to a shanghai trip in her sec 3, the cost is $2000 and for 6 weeks!!
Hi parents,

Any feedback on e maths Olympiad workshop? I'm considering whether to let my DD sign up :?

Why not sign up to attend the maths Olympiad workshop if she has been selected by teacher.

Hi lizhi,

Nanyang seems to have quite a few enrichment class, fr sciene to Chinese to speech n drama. So many to choose from but so limited time. Based on what I've read, workshop will be conducted by an external vendor n there will be hw. So was wondering how different is this workshop fr other maths classes n whether it's necessary for my DD to attend this workshop
For the maths Olympiad enrichment class, it is good chance to open up the kid’s potential. Not all children can attend this enrichment class even if they want to.

Talk about that Haiku, me, as usual, wanting to save precious time, told her to reuse the Haiku she wrote for P2 Science Expressions on nature, then she looked at me with a \"my helpless mum\" look and said, \"MOM, read the theme.\" Then I realised it's on Festivals. Hehe...

She'll write everything she could remember, whether mentioned by teacher or not, into the diary. Sometimes, even writing on sequential days to keep reminding herself.

drickymummy, it's not really a boy or girl thing...I felt it's whether the child wants to use the brain to remember things or not. My dd depended on her notes more than her brains...thus, danger is, if not written down, she might get complacent and forgot...unless the memory was triggered somehow.
Heehee…..

You dd is so clear that she is quick to understand what is the important point.
Do you know, I didn’t believe that my dd did not read the Theme then, so I imaged that dd maybe want to show the Festival - “Halloween”. 😂

Well, that is good habit that she remembers something in diary.

But my dd couldn’t find her watch until the next day she found it on her classroom table. This just happened these past few days. 😓

Is it a girl thing or boy thing? Is it should remember into dairy?

Btw, I like the Haiku which Arakida Moritake(1452-1540)wrote:

Fallen petals rise
Back to the branch-- I watch
Oh…butterflies!

Dun tink my pattern will change much lor  .. Already stressed out with Ds 2nd week into sch! :faint: he has a super bad habit of not writing hw diary though I remind him almost daily .. Forgot to write means never do hw till I check bag lor or best.. Left hw under his desk in sch! 😢

I m not kan chiong abt how much assessments he can do to catch up with others, in fact i dun give him much in the first place cs no time also.. but I m particular abt completing daily work on hand with care n neatness which Ds cannot seems to be able to do it.. is this another of boys problem ? :?
It is not just a boy's thing...
Just the day before yesterday, my dd spent her whole afternoon and whole evening to draw a pic with that haiku poem, the drawing looks like a legend cave.
When she was sleeping, I read that form about Haiku poetry contest, but it shows very obvious that the theme of contest is “Festival”. But I didn’t see the connection between this Cave and Festival…
Next day’s morning, when she woke up, I asked her what’s link about them, she suddenly recognized that she didn’t see the Theme! :faint:

Huh? my dd never show me about Shanghai program, only some papers, like 'Starquest A Star Science Labs', '小四华文创意思维写作,理解与口试课' enrichment class. 🤷

Thanks for sharing the nice pics lizhi. My DD unfortunately can only participate as an observer due to her arm injury. She came back requesting that I take her there to try those obstacles when she recovers.

Its been a fun first week and lesson proper should start this week. She's made a few new friends and is blending in quite comfortably so far 🙂
Hope she can recover soon!
That is great she made some new friends! :boogie:
