Hi. Are there any parents here who are keen to join a petition / appeal to MP to request for Shuqun to add back the 1 class that they removed in 2019?

Ever since they removed the class, the balloting chances in Phase 2C have reduced drastically. The population density around Shuqun has increased due to new private estates (Lake Grande, Lakeville etc) in recent years - with many young families moving into the neighbourhood.

If keen, please let me know. Thanks!

I doubt your petition has any merit.

Within 1km of Shuqun, there are at least 3 other schools:
      - Boon Lay (lots of places left for 2CS)
      - Jurong (ballot for SC 1-2km)
      - Lakeside (ballot for PR in 2C)
Hence, there are other schools within close proximity that can take in any additional demand.

Unfortunately, people only have eyes for Shuqun. That’s not something an additional one or two classes can fix.

Thanks Floppy for your response. Unfortunately, only Rulang, Shuqun and Lakeside are within 1 km of my residence. Been trying to research on Boon Lay Garden, Jurong and Lakeside but there isn't much parents feedback on these schools. Feels like a 'blackbox' and 'blindly' applying to these schools. Hence, resorting to this idea of appealing for Shuqun to increase the cohort intake, considering the popularity and the fact that Shuqun has the lowest cohort (200) vs other nearby schools - Rulang (270), Lakeside (240), Boon Lay Garden (240).

Frankly, if Boon Lay Gardens intake is so low at c.60% for 240 vacancies for past years, they are better off closing 1 class at Boon Lay and diverting resources to Shuqun to add back 1 class. Feels like that they have chosen the wrong school to reduce the cohort - especially after considering the new estates that are completed from 2018 onwards and within 1 km of Shuqun (instead of Boon Lay Gardens).
