• RE: Advice on Savings Plans

      chiaki:
I never believe in endowment. What is the returns after 10,15 years? 3%,5%?

And you get locked in for such a long period. For this returns, I might as well go for bond or preference share if I am a low risk person. And save in the commission.

The only situation that I think endowment is good is for those who don't have the habit of saving. The endowment plan will then help to force you to save a bit each month rather than you spend all away.
      I dont agree wor

bond or preference share is gd, but not all people know how or have the knowledge.

All pdts have it's pros n cons. Generally ppl go for endownment becos no need monitor thus less hassle and within the period u get little coverage. 3-5% low but still better then the normal banks savings acct.

Save the commission > you buy a policy 10-25years, comm only paid 3-5yrs while the agent service u till it matures, even if agent no longer around another will take over.

Bond or preference share, for those who cant afford one lump sum to invest dont tink this is an option, also require abit knowledge. No insurance coverage, if you pass on do make sure u have ur Will done up, if not the beneficiary will have a hard time to claim, or worst fees spent to retreive it exceeds the payout.

    • RE: Scam (Time Sharing etc...) Companies Active Again-Be Careful

8% per year is not that possible on average, needless to say 8% per wk.

If I were one of them, I may fall into the trap bec 8% per wk is simply irresistable.

Actually, with financial education and experience, 8% per year is easy and probably a norm for those savvy enough, but considered not easy or not possible for those without the know how or experience.

8% per week are usually a scam, and able to lure those going for quick and easy money.
Can possibly be done, but usually require high risk or possible total loss of capital, definitely not worth it.

100% agree, done be tempted and blinded by the returns. Very highly are scams

    • RE: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?

The point in question is; is it really worthwhile to wipe out parents' potential future retirement funds to pay for the substantial international fees and living expenses for at least 4 to 5 years of overseas medical studies?

One can take loan for Education. But no one will loan you money for Retirement 😢

haha totally agree, somemore CPF $$ also not sufficient after buying HDB.

i alwiz advise young parents / new parents to save up earlier. Since is a matter of time your children will need the money, be it for education or other causes. Why pay the bank % for a loan, when u save the interest NOW.

Even if just a small amount of $ saved aside in endownment helps. Not Enough better then don have at all.
Bringing this thread up.

Anyone still has personal accident insurance policy?

      Kee chiu!

      šŸ˜‚

Can tell me what is the coverage amount and the yearly premium you are paying?

I met with my Prudential agent this afternoon, almost 18 years did not see her after buying the Prulink Assurance policy.

      We did a review.

She was surprised to hear that hubby does not have PA policy and recommended me a policy that has a coverage of $500k (if I remembered correctly) for $200+ yearly premium.

Is this the norm premium and coverage?
PA is relatively cheap cos it pay upon accidental death. if pass on due to sickness no claim šŸ˜ž
